This pub is one of the best recreations of an old style British pub that I have been in. It is quite small but with a patio deck outside and a craft brewery operating downstairs in the cellar. First then the beer! People's taste in beer is a personal thing but I enjoyed the beers here, particularly the Hopstravaganza and... More

Eight of us on a 60-km cycling outing stopped here at the halfway point, as apparently large numbers of cyclists do. Great atmosphere and really excellent service, but the food was generally disappointing at best, and even the vaunted beer didn't meet expectations. Exception: one person had a burger and said it was delicious. She opted for a Corona beer,... More

Excellent beer, made on site in a delightful, back in time atmosphere. It actually is an old mill, converted, with a patio overlooking the river. The food is generally very good, the Brit specialties are stand outs and good service despite the fact that it always seems packed. The best kept secret is the chowder, which is served with a... Cream ale and harvest brown are excellent; service was very slow, but they were extremely busy inside and on the patio. Pricing reasonable. Great fries and fish was fresh and tender.

Good pub food...exactly what you would expect. Ladies had salads with salmon...good. Guys had meat pies and fries. Tasty pie and great fries. Brewed on site beer that was very good. Price point reasonable. Service a bit slow but we were visiting so it didn't matter. Nice patio but we chose inside as it was a very hot day. Inside... More

We have been to this pub twice now - 2 years apart. Before my husband and I went this time I said to him "mmmm - if I recall they have great beer but the food was particularly bad". We went anyway. The fact that 2 years later I had remembered the food particularly poor was concerning and I should... More

If you're looking for a place to go where you can get great beer and just relax on the patio on a sunny day, look no further. We had a nice early evening dinner and beer on a date night. The IPA was delicious and my husband's burger was delicious. No need to get too dressed up or worry if... More

Well the interior of the Ashton pub is dark and filled with interesting photos and collectibles. They brew and serve their own beers (which are quite tasty and refreshing). The service was fast and efficient. We had a group of ten and there was no problem in keeping us fed and watered. Most of us tried fish and chips or... More

We often stop in here when we are passing by and it is always busy....some times one has to sit at the bar. The beer is especially good and brewed by them, and wine comes in two sizes 5 oz and 8 oz which is nice. I usually have the steak and kidney pie( a rarity in restaurants these days)... More

Early in mid-April nineteen recreational golfers met for lunch at the Old Mill at Ashton as a pre-season get together. The food was great, the ambience terrific, and the variety of on-site brewed ales excellent. We will certainly return there again.
