We enjoyed the typical dish of the island - CURANTO - a wonderful combination of shellfish, fish, smoked meat and much more. A delight that you cannot say no.

The friendliest place. Always the best sea food. This time sea urchins, with lemon juice, cilantro and onions, toasted bread and a nice Chardonay. Favorite main dish is hadock and garlic fried potatoes. For dessert, Murta and quince.

Castro was one of our port stops on our Seabourn cruise. A nice town, but not much to it except for the town square/market area that sold the typical tourist stuff. The main restaurant in town seemed to be “Sacho” that offered a nice selection of homemade breads and pastries. The menu was in English, but it was still somewhat... More

El Sacho is located on Thompson st and although the outside looks quite unassuming, it is worth stepping inside. Skip the first floor and ask to be seated on the second floor, where large windows offer beautiful views on the sea and hills of the Rilan peninsula. The menu now comes in several languages (English and French as far as... More

Sacho has been going strong since 1971. It serves well cooked, plain food at reasonable prices in a room with a splendid view of Castro's bay and port. A steak ordered as medium covered the plate and was just right. It came with vegetables and cost CP7000 (less than £9). A large veal escalope stuffed with cheese and ham was... More

It certainly makes you wonder whether you've made a good choice when you have been sitting at your table for nearly 20-30 minutes and there's no sight of the food you have ordered. In this restaurant, I suggest you make the waiting more fun by trying to identify who the ·"famous ones" are, by taking a look at the set... More

I had a good meal at Sacho. The 2nd floor has great views of the bay. Food is of good quality although nothing spectacular. The ceviche de congrio was very well made, and the congrio frito was -for once- well cooked. A good pick.

Bland food really. Lack of options for sides. Plates just come with fish on them unless you ask for chips or potatoes which come at an extra cost. The fish wasn't overcooked. It would have been nice for them to remove the beards from the mussels before cooking them- I had to pick out 10 from a bowl of 12.... More

We had a lovely lazy lunch at Sacho´s. The choritos (fresh mussels) were the sublime - the best we´ve had anywhere in the world. The salmon was huge but unfortunately overcooked and tough. Service was average and they left us waiting for the bill for FAR too long and somewhat ruined an otherwise great lunch. The mussels were brilliant and... More

Enjoyed a beautiful day in Castro and the lunch at Sacho was the highlight. Had a great table upstairs with view of the bay, the service very friendly and Salmon stuffed with cheese, tomatoe and chorizo was excellent.....limited wine selection but very kid friendly.
