Sadly, one of my favourite "out of the way" places was too out of the way and as a result has closed. I understand that he has moved to Santo Domingo. I may have to look deeper and make a trip south when I return the next time. (Yes, the food was that good!)

This restaurant has been closed for months now. It was not very good when it was operational and even the restaurant that replaced it closed two weeks ago. BObK

terrible food and service. I was the only guest and not even then I got my food on time. The food smelled like old oil. I believe they need to improve a lot to get more people eating there. Just skip it, you will be very disappointed

Try the filet with green pepper sauce. Sip a cold Duvel with it and it might be the highlight of your trip.

Phillip is a masterful chef, who takes great pride and enjoyment in exceeding his customers expectations. As other posters have mentioned, don't forget to try the mousse! My wife and I visited Phillip and his wife at Simply Red several times during our visit to Sosua, and were always impressed with the food, enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, and apprecieated the... The New Simply Red restaurant is located out of centre of El Batey, Sosua. It is on the same road as Casa Marina resort but some 500m more towards Playa Chiquita. Filip and his team are great people, very friendly and hospitable. The menu consists of both local dominican dishes and belgian cuisine. Try the Mero stuffed with Salmon on... More

If you want to eat really cheap and really good this is the place to go. The belgian owner Philip is one of the best chefs you can try. His restaurant maybee is a little bit away from the mainstreet but I am telling you- its worth going there. The food is excellent and very tasteful. If you go there... More

I visited this restaurant 3 times for dinner during my 8-day stay in the area. The owner is a trained chef with very high standards, and knows exactly what he is doing. Meals are well planned and presented. Only fresh food is prepared and served, and that includes everything from salad to fruit to fish. Speaking of fish, the fresh... More
