Khaomao-Khaofang was originally built in Mae Sot on top of a swamp. Don't stop reading. You would not know that by walking into the place which has an amazing ambience well described by other reviewers. More than a decade later the Chiang Mai outlet opened and while the Thai menu is virtually identical at both outlets (extensive, delicious and certainly... More

Words cannot accurately describe the immaculate lawns, trimmed trees, waterfall, rainforest surrounding and fantastic atmosphere. It is a bit more expensive than other places to eat at Mae Sot BUT you cannot compare because the location makes the extra cost worth it. From when you arrive and are guided into your parking space by the attendant who looks like an... More

The setting of this place was termendous. Based on a jungle like theme, there are overhanging vines, trees and plants based around a meandering stream with beautiful mini waterfalls. The service was top top quality, and all their english was very good. The food itself was of a similar high quality and all pretty reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend!

I have been to Khaomao-Khaofang several times (and also to their outlet in Chiang Mai) and each time is great. Thai food, a tad on the pricey side for rural Thailand, but good quality. The price is partly governed, no doubt, by the setting, with the restaurant set in extensive ground and in amongst water pools, waterfalls, ferns, trees, flowers... More

The atmosphere in the evening was delightful, with well-kept garden and seats surrounding a large pond with artificial waterfall (which was actually a bit loud after a while). We were not greeted by any maitre d' or staff as we wandered in from the parking lot, and had to chase down a server to get a seat. The food was... More

If you're looking for super cheap or street food or seafood, there are many other options in MST. But this place (I won't mention the extraordinary surroundings as they have been much talked about already) offers you real (Royal style if we must revert to that term) Thai food which is ridiculously hard to find for some reason. The menu... More

This restaurant is highly recommended by the Thai Princess, if that says anything! It is one of her favorite, and definitely my favorite. It is set outdoors in the most amazing botanical garden you have ever seen. The grounds are expansive and just absolutely gorgeous. The tables are handmade from single pieces of wood, there are so many waterfalls, I... More

Never did I imagine to find a lovely restaurant in this town! Food and service were excellent as well as the surrounding setting. When in south east asia, what concerns me is a toilet but it was very clean here!! 2 people ordered 4 mains and soft drinks cost us 850baht which is not cheap considering it is bot pheket... More

Very average food. The salad of white turmeric was excellent but the rest was nothing special. Quite a long way from centre of Mae Sot.

Firstly I'd like to know where the negative previews come from. One person complained about the cost of the water and ice. Come on. Another companied about the cost. Then I suggest you eat in Phuket & Koh Samui. Everywhere there would struggle to earn one or two stars. This restaurant is fantastic. The ambience. The beauty. The food. The... More
