Estepa turned out to be our favorite restaurant in El Chalten. We were there toward the end of the season, and some restaurants were already closed so our choices were somewhat limited, but I think Estepa wold have been a winner in any event. It's a comfortable and casual place. Both the beef and the lamb were excellent. The waitress,... More

Had dinner here on a recommendation of our hotel and they did send us to the right place. We are not big red meat eaters and were pleased to find a variety of choices to our liking. The chef was caught running to the garden to pick fresh herbs!

We ate at Estepa twice. I did a dinner by myself when I ate the lamb in Calafate sauce. The meat was cooked well and the sauce complimented the taste without being over bearing. The served me a wonderful warm bread with a dip that went really well. The next time went there with my companians for lunch, I tried... More

Our first dinner was marvelous, great choice for a meat free meal... we had the risotto and a lasagne and enjoyed our food very much. Also the wine was delicous. Just the atmosphere was a bit too bright. Very friendly waitress.

We ate here based on our hotels recommendation. The setting is fairly cozy. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, which was great. The soups were more like a purée than soup, and my husband's steak was very tough... But the lasagna was AMAZING. This was similar to what we heard from other couples as well. EAT the PASTA. It... We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was very good and the food was delicious. I had the lamb in pastry and my wife is a vegetarian and went with the homemade ravioli with spinach with olives and tomatoes. Excellent food and a great experience. Highly recommend it.

The best food I had in El Chalten. It does not look like a smart restaurant at all, but there was definitely a cook at work there. Most other places served up huge hunks of Patagonian lamb, or beef, of varying quality. Here the meat was carefully prepared and cooked - lomo with Malbec sauce was excellent.

El Chalten, a relatively small town in southern Argentina, surprised us with its number of excellent restaurants. Estepa is a real find. This intimate little place offers fresh food presented in a beautiful way. Its steaks and trout are first class and we are sorry not to have this restaurant a bit closer to home!

We had a good dinner here. Not as good as La Tapera around the corner, but very solid. This is a small quiet restaurant. Casual wooden booths. The waitress was very nice. Let us taste a few beers and wines before ordering a bottle. The salad was fresh although a bit strange with vegetables and fruit. The lamb chops were... More

We did a seven day Patagonia tour and this was the best meal of the trip. The pork barbacoa was excellent.
