Very enjoyable meal and ambiance celebrating our wedding anniversary

Booked a few weeks in advance at this busy hotel and restaurant which we always eat at when staying in that area of Wales. We enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant and surroundings, service and food is always very good.

Six of us visited this hotel for an evening meal on Friday 22nd May the last night of our holiday. We had popped in at lunchtime and asked if we needed to book a table for that evening. The gentleman we spoke to advised us that the restaurant was fully booked and they didn't usually reserve tables in the bar.... More

We booked for Sunday Lunch to celebrate our Aunts Ninetieth Birthday, the Atmosphere is very nice although a little dark in places, our Aunt managed to get in and out safely. The staff are very attentive and friendly which helped to make the meal a memorable occasion, the meal itself was a typical Sunday Roast (Beef in our case}, served... More

Visited for Sunday Lunch recently which was very enjoyable with a choice of roast meats and plenty of fresh vegetables. I would certainly visit again if I am in the area and would recommend to others.

A family meal for ten (two children). The food was good if unspectacular, nobody had any complaints with starter or main, but nobody was really wowed. Service was polite and friendly, but the food was quite slow to be brought out. Nearly 3 hours for a meal without dessert or coffee is a bit long in my book. Despite this... More

We stayed for a long weekend with two friends. Three rooms, four big motorcycles and us! We were lucky to get parking just under the arch way, as some of the parking is really not suitable for bikes. One of our party finds stairs a bit hard and we had reserved a ground floor courtyard room (19). Perfect!! We had... More

The Bear Hotel is a great venue to wind down at after a hard day's walking. Being both owner and dog-friendly, not only do the 2-legged guests enjoy a range of great tasting and fantastically presented fayre, but the four legged visitors are also invited to try out chicken whilst accompanying the diners. The result is a brilliant combination of... More

What an extraordinary place :) We came here for dinner on a recommendation from a friend and it didn't disappoint. We sat in the bar area for food as we had our two springers with us. The staff couldn't accommodate them enough. Lots of attention for them, a massive bowl of chicken each and a bowl of water. The food... More

We visited The Bear on a wet Tuesday night and the first thing that struck us was how busy the place was. This many people can't be wrong we thought so in we went. This is a big hotel and former coaching in which has maintained a cosy feel in the bar and serves a super menu in the restaurant.... More
