A very overdue visit!!!

It has been a long time since I visited this place and for no good reason!! Log fire burning and dog friendly as ever - even down to still providing bowls of water for your dogs! Wasn't the coldest of days but the olde world warmth was there, can understand why visitors from other countries rave... read more

Lovely meal, great beer choices, very friendly and accommodating staff who facilitated a change in our circumstances because of a disabled friend without fuss. Definite recommendation.

Visited the Bear for lunch. The bar was busy with lots of atmosphere but we were served quickly and efficiently. The fish pie was excellent with a lovely dish of fresh vegetables. A good comforting meal on a cold day at a good price.

Had just spent a day walking in the surrounding hills and wanted feeding before driving back home. I picked from the bar menu (too early for evening one) and was fed extremely well (plus two drinks) for less than fifteen quid. Cannot say fairer than that. The interior is perfect to relax in - warm, cosy and convivial. Recommend and... More

This was our 3rd visit to this Inn whilst on holiday in Crickhowell and once again we were not disappointed. The staff are very friendly and make you and your dogs feel very welcomed. Water available for the dogs and excellent Rev James ale for us adults. The good is very good and reasonably priced. Sunday lunch can be busy... More

Always a pleasure to drop into the Bear for a drink, bar snack or restaurant meal. It is good to know that most of the meals are chef prepared in their own kitchens and not the usual bought in produce from some catering company. All the food is tasty and wholesome and is nicely prepared and presented. You need to... More

Hotel/pub is very pretty and inviting. Went fot coffee and later lunch with friends. Orders are taken at the bar by 1 man so a lot of waiting. food comes fairly quickly and is mediocre

The Bear never disappoints. We had lunch in the bar, which is very cosy and attractive. The service is wonderful and so is the welcome. A pint of the Rev James is the finest you will taste. Superb fish pie. My favourite of all time. With al dente vegetables and a naughty side order of crispy chips with fluffy insides.... More

Took a drive to the area to enjoy the New Year & decided to visit The Bear after reading about it's history on the website. Was very busy however we got a table right by the bar & near the log fire. It was by the door which meant it got a little chilly at times with the constant arrival... More

The Christmas decorations were quite something! Food was good though a bit more vegetarian choice would have been nice. Also, it was a bit inconvenient to have to order at the bar, esp. when trying to remember an order for 10 people! Still, an enjoyable evening.
