Very helpful staff - good service

Sunday lunch - good quality, substantial lunch. Nothing fancy, plain wholesome food. Staff were very accomodading in catering off menu for a rather picky member of our party. Overall, a pleasant Sunday dining experience.

Stopped by the bear on way home not long back, sat down at an unassuming table.. Little did I know this was the regulars table, apparently also known as the round table. The girl behind the bar seemed to think that it was more than her jobs worth to let us sit there.. Who are these regulars? It's quite reasonable... More

Well meaning but untrained service staff. Fraying a bit around the edges. Prices seem high for a pub -- 15GBP for a burger? Food is okay but we have had better in pubs around the UK. Nice garden atmosphere - order your food and drinks from the bar, paying with each order -- for some unknown reason they will not... More

The Bear is the Historic coaching in at the head of the street in this lovely old town. There are several bars serving a wide range of meals and beverages, staffed by pleasant and helful personnel. We booked a table for 5 in The Restaurant on the day before we hoped to eat and were there on time at 7:30... More

I've been to The Bear once for Sunday Lunch as per my previous review. Decided to have a short break and stay at the hotel for 3 nights June 2015. We were shown to our room which was a deluxe double (which we thought to be rather ordinary). Very dark as windows very small but the lighting was good so... More

I spent a lot of nights in this area and that is number one hotel in Crickhovell region. Large rooms with all you need and sometimes more ;-) hotel has a really good restaurant where you could enjoy your evenings. Really worth to visit.

The food and atmosphere are great in this Hotel in Crickhowell. The real ale was great again and the liver was wonderful, as was the apple and wimberry crumble.

The food was delicious and very reasonable. Service was a bit patchy but the food made up for it . I had the lamb shank and my husband had the venison and both were delicious. Desserts were good too. The ice cream was superb ! I would recommend this place.

We had stayed in the nearby Dragon Inn, but couldn't resist wandering up to the Bear on the chance of a table. And we were not disappointed! The historic atmosphere of the restaurant, quieter and calmer than the pleasant bar, is irresistible - and fortunately replicated by the superb and discreet service the very professional staff provide. Don't come here... More

What was once a pleasant reasonably priced pub has become an expensive fume- ridden traffic jam of a place, try elsewhere, no peace there at all any more
