We dropped of here for a bit to eat, what a great meal best Monk fish I have had for a long time, deserts were scrummy but a little pricey, service in the Resturant was excellent.

As we were staying in a lovely cottage in Crickhowell we decided to ask the owner for his recommendations for somewhere to eat locally, without hesitation he told us that previous occupants had told him that The Bear Hotel provided a good meal at reasonable prices, we decided to eat there twice during our stay and we thoroughly enjoyed both... We enjoy very much the accommodation, service and food. The city was very beautiful, like a 20 years back in time. I recommend this place.

It was already dark when I arrived and the bar area was busy with lots of people. I wandered though to the second bar area, then to another dining room and yet another dining room. The place seems to consist of cosy areas with nice, low lighting and old-school furnishings. It's a really nice atmosphere. I ate in the second... More

Lovely stop for food and a drink. Friendly atmosphere and easy to find a table (go early or book though, as it was getting busy past 7.30pm on a Saturday night!)

We joined a wedding party for an evening meal and it was absolutely amazing. We were staying in the mountains for the week and enjoyed a Sunday roast here at the Bear which was one of the best roasts we have tasted. A beautiful pub, excellent food and great service. All the waitress's and waiters were very polite and helpful.

We stayed in Crickhowell for one night and had The Bear recommended to us by our B&B host. Lovely big pub with a nice crowd. We enjoyed a gorgeous dinner for which I had the slow roasted ribs of Welsh beef, which was absolutely tender and delicious. My friend had the cottage pie which she also seemed very happy with.... The restaurant at The Bear is one of my Mother's favorite places to eat in the Welsh countryside. Our most recent visit was with my partner and children in August, 2014. The decor is traditional country inn style and the bar and restaurant contains lots of nooks and is a little rambling. It does not need modernizing but it could... More

We visited on a Sunday and ordered off the main menu. We had a warm welcome, received good service and between us enjoyed an excellent chicken & leek pie (truly delicious), a super fish & chips and an equally tasty chicken supreme in a Marsala sauce. The staff even bought a bowl of chicken for the dogs. A great pub!
