Lovely light lunch in the gorgeous garden at the Rear. The weather was great and the hanging baskets and other plants around the hotel were beautiful. Nice casual atmosphere, Good value for money, well worth a visit.

As a party of three we booked two rooms for three days at The Bear for a wedding celebration nearby in July. When we arrived on the appointed day we discovered that we had actually booked with a different Bear hotel about an hour away by car. We learned that this happened from time to time and the hotel was... More

For a busy pub restaurant, food was very good. Nothing gourmet but fresh and well prepared. Several restaurants. Pub ambiance. Noisy. Service very good. Rating it very good for the type of restaurant it is--a Pub in Wales

Always a favourite, and we were able to eat outside in the very pretty garden. The flowers were very colourful, and really adds to the attractiveness of this old coaching inn. The menu is for all tastes, and served in a very friendly manner. It is always busy, but service is still timely. The food was good too.

Ate here three times this week whilst on holiday nearby. Excellent food, huge menu to choose from but still delivered nicely & within good time. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere.

The Bear hotel is simply not to be missed if you are staying in Crickhowell. We were staying in a local B&B round the corner from the Bear and could not have been happier with the recommendation for dinner. The food, service and atmosphere was of an excellent standard. This is the true British pub thriving. Homemade white chocolate ice... More

There are two large pub rooms with the usual fish and chips fare, but there is also a formal dining room with very good ambience, food and service. Lots of celebrations and friendly loud noise about.

It is a great varied menu for all tastes and the food was good. However the pub itself was like stepping back in time. I know some may like 'charm' but I found it very tired and gloomy with no atmosphere. The more elderly bar staff were also a bit rude and seemed to ignore females waiting at the bar!... More

Lovely meal at the Bear Hotel restaurant during a stay in Crickhowell for the Hay Festival. Great food; personable and attentive service; excellent value for money. Venue full of character. We didn't actually stay at the Hotel but I rather wish we had.
