just popped in

We just popped in for a quick snack after a morning of property viewing in the area. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and offered both the main menu and the light bite menu. Both were varied and not expensive. We sat outside and although adjacent to a busy road it was very pleasant. The... read more

The Cider Mill is on the main road to Brecon but with easy access and lots of off road parking. We found the service very polite but the food did take sometime to arrive - when it did, it was well presented and all the party enjoyed what they chose. Quite expensive overall and the puddings were overpriced we thought.... More

We had a lovely meal on a Friday evening. Unfortunately they had chosen to start two new members of staff that night so the service had a lot to be desired. Surely it would have been better to train new staff on a less busy night of the week and not start them on a Friday. It wasn't the new... More

We visited this pub last year and had a real nice meal which was well presented and very good. The menu was excellent. This year to our disappointment the menu had changed and where last year the garlic bread was warm bread with roasted whole garlic, this time it was just a warm bread roll with garlic butter. The staff... More

We stopped at the Nantyffin after a visit to Hay-on-Wye. A lovely afternoon outdoors at the picnic table, accompanied by a couple of their draft ciders. Friendly pub atmosphere inside, nicely located on the A40 just outside the village of Crickhowell.

Set in sweeping and majestic surroundings with ample parking, and an all together enchanting look that would fit in well with Downton Abbey, the scene was set for good things to be delivered from this well known haunt. (This despite one family member having called the place into question on their last visit; endorsed by my own opinion of the... More

We had stopped here for lunch back around Christmas time, and decided to stop here again after a trip to the second handbook shops in HAY on Wye, and it was a welcome stop after a fruitless journey to the book shop! I had fish and chips and the batter was lovely and crisp and light, lovely chips, and squashed minted... More

We stopped here on our country walk from tretower to crickhowell and so glad we did. Extensive menu, and we really enjoyed our food (Ham hock pie of the day and monkfish with lentils). Staff were pleasant and helpful, didn't mind a bit that we asked to switch sides , which they did at no extra cost. The food was... More

Broke a habit of a lifetime by going out to eat on Mothering Sunday. Our expectations were low as prepared ourselves for a over priced, over stressed and ultimately a disappointing experience. The Mill was wonderful however. The staff attentive and the food excellent. I also liked the fact that although there was an issue with my Mum's starter the... More
