Mums the Word

Broke a habit of a lifetime by going out to eat on Mothering Sunday. Our expectations were low as prepared ourselves for a over priced, over stressed and ultimately a disappointing experience. The Mill was wonderful however. The staff attentive and the food excellent. I also liked the fact that... read more

After a long day walking around Brecon beacons, we were heading back to the place we were staying in Abergavenny and happened upon this place on our way back. We got there just as it opened at 6pm. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and are also dog friendly! So the dog also got lots of fuss and a... More

We ate in the bar, which was much cosier than the restaurant (which lacks atmosphere and is very cold). The a la carte menu looked very extensive and varied, but several menu items were unavailable (so much for a la carte!), leaving quite a limited choice. The steak - supposedly high quality, they say - was very sinewy although cooked... More

Just had a fab 3 course meal at the cedar mill, food was excellent, the quality was very good. The temperature in the room was a little bit too hot.

Spoilt an evening out, we have not been to the Nantyffin for some time but when we heard that Jessica and the team had taken it back over we thought great, but oh dear i started with roasted in season vegetables with something in rice well virtually inedible the roasted peppers had only skin, the large piece of green possibly... I have looked at other recent reviews and the time people had to wait is a bit of a recurring theme and that was what affected us. Two of us had a reservation at 8.30 on the 7th Mar. We loved the bar and particularly the main restaurant area which had a unique country feel and the bar had a... More

Visited the Mill last night . The food was outstanding but the service was dismal . We had a 8 o'clock booking but were still waiting for our main courses at 21.45 ! . There were 6 in our party and although three of us had starters we had to wait 1.5 hrs for our main meal to arrive which... More

Booked a few days in advance for a Valentine's treat for my partner. Special set menu was £35 which is excellent value as we had 3 courses, coffee and truffles included. We were welcomed with champagne and had a selection of tables to choose from. We sat in the lower area of the restaurant next to the old cider mill.... More
