We went here on Saturday night and sat in the raised area behind the bar. My husband had the beef pie which came in a very thick, shortcrust pastry (we both prefer flaky pastry with pies but the taste of the pastry was quite nice). I went for the lamb confit which was lovely and tender. To elevate to gastropub... More

Very mixed experience in a quite nice setting. On the upside -nice children's meal and good burger. Nice waitresses. On the downside flat soft drinks, grim doughy batter and poor fish. Chicken in a basket was tasty but with tiny portion and oven chips (in contrast to other meals where chips were homemade). Horrible corn on the cob chargrilled from... More

Despite the fact they had just had a party of 18 guests, our meal did not take very long to arrive. The waiting staff were polite and attentive. The food was well cooked and delicious. The surroundings were rather tired and shabby looking, it is possible to be a gastro pub and still be stylish and welcoming, they seem to... More

Well worth a visit this one. Combine your visit with a wander around Tretower (the usual CADW robbery/entry fee but a very interesting place to have a look round). Nantyffin - driven past on many occasions and thought it was worth visit. Visited with Minister for Home Affairs, Mother-in-Law and the boy. I was, unfortunately driving but managed a cider... More

First trip back to the Cider Mill in a number of years but unfortunately time has not been kind to the restaurant. In the early 2000's the Cider Mill was a popular high end restaurant serving a wide range of dishes and wines by well trained staff. Now I feel the restaurant requires a little TLC. Is it a restaurant... More

We visited here for lunch one day, the meat sharing platter for starter was excellent. We ate in the bar because of the dog, the bar area is small but it was not crowded so it was fine. The restaurant was empty when we were there but at night I would think it would have a great atmosphere and will... More

It was lovely to call in to this ld haunt after a few years gap. Now back with its original owners it has not lost any of its charm. Food was lovely (especially the vegetarian sharing platter) and the service impeccable. Not sure about the retro music! Definitely won't leave it so long before out next visit.

We happened upon this place, which had a convenient roadside location and was welcoming. Our dog was offered a bowl of water and welcomed inside the bar section of the restaurant. Food was good quality. We had a beef roast Sunday lunch, which was excellent and a lamb dish which was a little fatty. We were recommended a local cider,... More

I rarely eat fish and chips when dining out. However, 12 months ago, a friend of mine dined here and had such a wonderful fish and chip experience whilst on holiday from the Midlands, that I made a point of taking my Father there this week as he loves well prepared and cooked fish and chips. I am very pleased... More
