As soon as we walked through the door we were made very welcome. We left the dry cider recommendation to the landlord and was not disappointed. We had a so called 'snack' meal of Welsh rarebit and fish finger sandwiches, accompanied by chips cooked in dripping. This was a substantial meal and delicious. The fish fingers were goujons of fish... More

Table booked for Sunday lunch at 1.30pm. Our two friends arrived five minutes early; my wife and, five minutes late. Our main courses we're served at 3.20pm! I shared a crab cakes starter with my wife. The full portion consisted of two crab cakes, each not much bigger than a good sized walnut, plus some salad. Good value at £8,50?... More

We enjoyed our lunch and the friendly ambience, which was just as well, because we had quite a wait for both mains and desserts. We've eaten here, and enjoyed ourselves, before and the food was certainly as tasty this time - just a delay and a bit of dithering between giving our order and being able to begin our meals... Returned to the 'restaurant' because the atmosphere was very pleasant last time. Went to the effort of driving from our hotel to visit, but wished we had not bothered. Having booked stable in good time, we arrived to be offered a the only table left in the dining bar, or in the freezing cold public bar. Explained we had booked... More

Two of us had lunch here today. I had shoulder of lamb and my friend had a chicken dish. We both enjoyed them and thought it was one of the nicest lunches we had had in a long while. There was a good selection of desserts to follow. A locally brewed bitter was very drinkable but unfortunately I was driving.... More

We rang ahead to book in last minute and nothing was too much trouble ... "My kitchen will wait for you..." , we were made welcome before we even walked through the door. Lovely ambiance, fantastic interior, this place is a hidden gem! We decided to try the Sunday set menu which was so mouth watering we ended up with... More

Nice setting friendly welcome from the manager, nice food just a shame the service from the young inexperienced staff lets it down slightly having to find someone to ask for cutlery. Basic attention to detail is lacking sadly & i have read this also in other reviews, but apart from this an enjoyable time was had by all.

Enjoyed sirloin steak and my wife had confit of lamb, both cooked beautifully. We arrived early as we hadn't booked (having seen earlier reviews) but we were only ones there, quiet on Sunday night. Staff very friendly.Best meal of our Brecons break so far.

My wife and I visited the pub with out 2 daughters, albeit the youngest was not eating there. My wife had the Sirloin Steak, I had the Burger and our daughter had the Cottage Pie. All 3 meals were fantastic, the taste was out of this world. We all remarked that it was the best meal in a long time.... More
