A busy place ques are often out of the door but the service is speedy and the fish and chips worth the wait! No seating was available inside but we ate along the seafront which was probably a better experience anyway. Reasonably priced and good portion sizes.

The Mermaid's location is perfect, so look no further if you are after a chippie meal to take to the beach (or on the train). There are often queues (say 10-15 minutes at peak times) but bear with it - it's a mark of the place's popularity and quality. Most people go for the fish and chips, and plenty have... More

It's a fish & chip shop, takeaway etc. As you're by the seaside, you need to have takeaway fish & chips on the seafront once and this does a good job. Decent quality, the lack of dodgy oil flavours was a bonus.

Thank you for donating your voucher for a 'fish supper' to the RNLI. My sister was lucky enough to win it and gave it to me! I cashed it in tonight with some additional fish and chips and it was absolutely delicious! Lovely chunky piece of cod, crispy batter. Piping hot! Delicious!!

Portion sizes are good. Prices are reasonable (£5 for fish and chips). The best chippy? In Barmouth definitely, In Wales possibly. Barmouth is a traditional seaside resort and the Mermaid is a perfect part of that. There are few things as nostalgic and pleasurable as good fish and chips on the beach. It was the perfect end to fabulous day... More

The best fish and chips you could ever taste. Golden fresh fish and crispy dry fried chips. Very busy as soon as it opens but worth the wait, you will not be disappointed.

Stopped here whilst taking the long way home from Caernarfon and decided to eat some chips on the beach. It was pretty quiet considering it was such a gorgeous day out but that kept the wait to a minimum. Chips were delicious, though I would have enjoyed some sauce, my fault for not asking. The best bit was eating on... More
