Still good Still Here

I have been eating here for years and every time we come it great . what drives them on, what keeps it good Each visit I worry the magic may have slipped. Yet each vista re affirms my faith that some places just keep it good. They get good food, they cook it well. and they serve it with... read more

Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning, I love The Ceilidh Place, we always pop in when we visit Ullapool, its such a nice atmosphere with great decor and the log burner was roaring. There were more staff than customers but we had to get someone's attention to order our food. We received our drinks promptly but the staff didn't... More

Needed a decent breakfast because our B and B wasn't providing breakfast right now. We are glad we found this. We had a simple breakfast of porridge and filled rolls, all of which were well done. Coffee and tea was equally good

This is a very average restaurant but at least they had one type of An Teallach beer on tap. Their fish choices are dependent on the catch that day and perhaps we caught them on an off day. (no pun intended)

It didn't start well - I arrived and was greeted abruptly by the waitress who seemed confused that I was waiting to be seated - the dining area was empty except for one table and I didn't want to just make myself at home! I enquired about a cooked breakfast which I saw another guest was having and was told... More

I ordered Fish and Chips as usually you get a reasonably sized serving. I was very disappointed in the size of fish. It was as though they had cut down the spine to make 2 fish out of 1. It was tasty enough but a small serving for the price. I informed the waiter I was given the smallest serving... More

Called in here for cake and coffee while we were staying in nearby Durness. The cakes were homemade and excellent and so was the coffee. It was a cold day and the fire was roaring away. Very cosy and they let us bring our dog in. Good attentive service. Will call again. We did stay in Ullapool for a week... More

This wee placein Ullapool is a gem. We visit Ullapool quite regularly for short breaks and make sure to visit. The coffee and cakes are second to none, coupled with a hearty fire to warm the bones and reasonable prices. The food, for those looking for lunch, is equally good and freshly prepared. Another nice touch is the bookshop onside... More

After a climb up Suilven and a night in a mountain bothy, the coffee and cake were excellent. With an excellent bookshop as part of the place, this is a great stop. We will be back.

Our B&B host recommended the place, so we took the trouble to find it although for strangers in town that was a bit of a challenge. Glad we did find it. It is a rather unique large dining room, with, as I recall, a bar at one end and a bookstore near the entrance. We peeked around a bit in... More
