Welcome relief from fish and chips and haggis

In this part of Scotland (The Highlands), it can be difficult finding a restaurant that ventures far from standard Scottish fare. Not that we're not adventuresome, but frankly, how many time can you eat fish and chips and avoid haggis and black (blood) pudding on a menu. This restaurant had come... read more

Wonderful place, art & music & bookshop lovely, we hung out there for a long rainy afternoon and evening, very welcoming, relaxed staff, best coffee we had in Scotland, great Scottish craft beers, delicious food, best langoustines we've had anywhere. Not cheap but very good value for such high quality.

Great food and reasonably priced, the sweets are a must if you still have room after a main meal. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. Always worth a visit when visiting Ullapool.

We enjoyed our meal at Ceilidh Place although the wait for a table was long and the wait for food even longer (including our dessert, which was forgotten). Nonetheless it was nice to be able to browse the bookshop while we waited. The barman was great: thanks for the extra olives!

The Ceilidh Place has a good reputation and we were so looking forward to this as part of a long weekend get away. Potentially a wee gem let down by basis errors. The service was very welcoming and hit the right tone, from a blonde Scottish woman and New Zealand chap. The wine list is good but with very few... More

Great first lunch in Ullapool . Soup was very tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive! Cakes looked delicious but I resisted temptation. Toilets smelled and looked clean. Individual hand towels for drying hands and nice soap. Will return! Good value for money!

Attractive old building set back from the main coast road with a large extension/conservatory out the back. Restaurant combined with a friendly bar at the front of the building. Food was tasty and good value.

Some boy with a Glasgow accent took our order then took us the wrong stuff. Then we waited 20 minutes and still nothing. Went up to ask where our stuff was and he said he chucked out the check. Never did anything about it, had to leave because we needed to be somewhere. Never even said sorry for cocking up... More

This is quite a big venue, there is a book shop attached. I think there was also a function room as well Bar and separate dining. Choice was good but would not suit everyone so check it first. Food excellent and service good as well.
