Ate here 13 years ago and had a good meal. Tried tonight and it was closed. Said due to refurbishment, but nothing happening inside, just left set up as it was. Locals say it has been closed for @ 1 month with no sign of activity. Heard sister restaurant had some issues, so this may be why. Anyway do not... More

Travelled to Ullapool recently with my boyfriend, we set up camp in the campsite right next to the I Indian. After we'd set up it was just before eleven at night, so we weren't sure if anything was open to have dinner. We walked up to the Indian and it was signposted that it shut at twelve, which was surprising... More

We tried the Essence of India as curry is a favourite of both OH and nephew, despite the reviews here. We were very glad we did. Yes the decor is tired, and the service perfunctory, but the food was delicious. Rarely for an Indian meal, we scraped the dishes clean!

Never been to a restaurant so unwelcoming before. They acted like I was a hassle because I was alone. Then tried to make me order more food than I would have been able to eat in order to cover a minimum payment to eat in, the restaurant wasn't even half full! Finally I just asked for my original order to... More

We spent two wonderful nights in this beautiful little fishing village on the northwest coast of Scotland. Not only was it a working port, but the tourist trade was lively and robust, which created a bit of a problem when we looked for dinner arrangements each night. The two establishments recommended by our tour agent were booked solid and they... More

We gave this place a go even though the reviews weren't that great. Glad we did, it was a Sunday night and the place was empty. Staff were pleasant and friendly enough. Menu has plenty of choices. We ordered some drinks and then ordered our food, no starters, just straight to the main courses. The food did take a while... More

Went there for a change in our menu and enjoyed some great Indian food. Due to many take away customers we had to wait quite a while to get our dishes. The location is nothing special, but you get a nice meal along with an unspectacular service. If you have the possibility: Use the take away and all is fine!

Took friends who were visiting Ullapool for a meal on Saturday, warmly greated by Mohamed and his assistant. The food as always outstanding and the Nan breads exceptional. Our friends throughly enjoyed themselves and said it was the best Indian they had every had! Praise indeed! Thank you for another lovely experience and see you again soon.

First off, the food was good, in fact mine, a veggie dish, was actually excellent and the naan bread was delicious. BUT..... We arrived just after 7 on a Saturday evening. There were only 10 other people in the restaurant. We were a bit puzzled when we were seated in the table between the other dinners, leaving the rest if... More

We have not dined in at this establishment, however the takeaway food has been good on the ocassions we have chosen to make a purchase there. A wee bit expensive, and the carpet badly needed to be renewed the last time we visited for a carry out meal.
