Limited but very lovely food

Stopped by for food for 6, although a bit worried about a limited menu at first and cost, the food was really lovely and that included a fantastic vegetarian option and seafood choices. Want staying so can't comment on that.

The food was decent, but the prices were unreasonably high. The main example: some of us asked for mussels, which on the specials board was £9 as a starter, as a main. The mussels were tasty, but the serving wasn't large, it only came with bread, and they charged £18. Service was patchy (getting our drinks took an age, but... More

Our small group went in search of a quiet restaurant for an evening meal in the centre of Ullapool. Unfortunately we chose the Argyll Hotel. On entering the bar we were abruptly informed by an ill-mannered bar tender that food was served upstairs and NOT in the bar. On being seated in the restaurant we ordered food and pre-dinner drinks... More

We found ourselves with a few hours to spare in Ullapool awaiting the Ferry to Stornoway. On the search for food we found the Argyll. A quaint little place, quite empty but that did not deter. The food we ordered was plentiful and lovely, although we had a slight issue with part of the meal this was remedied quickly and... More

Great food and great service. The new chef has turned the place around. We had an awesome dinner and the staff was very attentive.

We went here one night as the musicians were highly recommended. There was a singer on acoustic gutair and female singer with multiple penny whistles. I could have stayed all night. Great traditional music. My first time in scottish pub. You get yourself a drink at the bar and then sit down. They passed the hat for the musicians later.... More

This place came up on my CAMRA app. The beer was okay but the place was deserted, the poor lady working seemed to have to be hotel receptionist, waitress, bar lady and telephonist. The menu was quite small and very expensive. I'm afraid we left after our beer.

We were thinking able up eating, but started with a glass of wine and my favourite beer (Timothy TaylorLandloed). The beer when placed on the bar was flat, so I peered over to notice no sparkler taps on the draught beer taps! I pointed this out to a well spoken lady who looked bemused. After, reminding her I was still... More

Cheap but shabby. Lovely view from bedroom window. Folk music groups performing in the bar each evening - an attraction for those who enjoy that kind of entertainment. Music downstairs didn't intrude on my room which was not directly over the bar.
