Delicious with excellent attention to detail. Nice salads to accompany sandwiches. No problem getting half portions for the children which came with age appropriate cutlery and cups. Nice tables available outside, inside couches were very comfortable. Fast and efficient service and we were made to feel very welcome.

We stopped off for a wander around Kelso and found this welcoming little cafe. Coffee and tea cakes with jam included. Large seating area with table service. The staff were most obliging and very well dressed in uniforms. There are toilets available. A large toy box was evident for the tiny tots and it seems all are welcome including muddy... More

It was a real wet day and the Hoot n Cat got a return visit. We were served by a lovely young girl who was very pleasant and took our order promptly it's table service here. Fruit scone was just as we like it and the Latte coffee went down a treat maybe getting a little expensive though.

We called in late morning on a visit to the Border country and were given a warm welcome at this place. The Border Tart - it's a cake not a person - is highly recommended. It's a bit like a pastry case filled with moist jammy Christmas cake. When we paid at the till, we told the cashier how good... More

Made a quick visit with my sister whilst on holiday in Northumberland. As we had eaten a big breakfast earlier we just wanted a small snack and ordered one cheese sandwich between us. I asked for 2 plates so we could share which is usually all we get. Not in the Hoot 'n' cat, they split the sandwich and gave... More

A short but enjoyable breakfast at what appeared to be a popular coffee shop. Excellent bacon rolls, very good service and what appeared to be an excellent lunch menu with good daily specials
