Stopped in Kelso at lunchtime while doing a car tour of the Borders. Very good and interesting versions of traditional food, which is what we were looking for: Cullen Skink soup (smoked haddock & potato), a small plate composed of haggis ball, colcannon croquette & swede puree; also excellent Caesar salad with chicken confit & brined anchovies. Yum!

We were cautioned about coming to this pub by our accommodation host as he had heard from previous guests it was hit and miss. But we were determined to give it a try because we had heard the beer was good. We tried 3 beers and all 3 were very good and true to their descriptions, an IPA, black IPA... More

The food at the cobbles is excellent and the staff very friendly and efficient. Would recommend the hardiemill steaks. The pub has its own brewery and the different beers are very good acne worth trying.

It must be good because we came back for more. The first night the restaurant was packed and they had a table of 20 being set up, but they found us a table and took excellent care of us. One veggie and one meat eater, we were well catered for with choice across the menu. The home made soup and... More

Never having been to Kelso before we chose this restaurant to have a meal after a day visit to the town. Our choice could not have been better! We enjoyed drinks in the bar prior to our meal and was most impressed by the selection of cask ales on offer. The dinner menus was well balanced with reasonably priced and... More

Called on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Having previously visited only for a drink we are very pleased we tried the food. We had our granddaughter with us and were given a highchair for her. Very clean, friendly and our meals were delicious. Definitely recommend.

Popped in one evening for a quick drink, really good selection of craft beers with a knowledgeable barman who let you taste the beer beforehand. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day for a meal, good choice of dishes at a reasonable price with a friendly service what more do you need.

Monday night in Kelso and the restaurant is almost full. nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Good range of hand pulled beers and very reasonable prices for very good food. Only 2 minor problems 1 The main course (Shepherds Pie) was as hot as molten lava. Just out the oven, but we sat for some time before we managed to... More
