We visited on a wet winter day for lunch, we were able to warm up near a nice fire place. We walked in and the barmaid asked if we had reserved, which we had not. It was not very busy and they placed us at a table near a small fire place. We ordered at the bar and the food... read more

An excellent place to stop for lunch if visiting Lacock, the setting for so many historical dramas (Wolf Hall, Harry Potter, etc. etc.). There was a good selection to choose from, and we opted for the special, a game pie, which was very good.

Lovely building, nice to sit in the courtyard in the summer. In winter though it is a bit cold unless you are right next to one of the fires. They have specials which I usually chose from rather than the menu as it is fairly limited and very similar to The George Inn one. Last time the special was finished... More

The pub itself is very traditional with a relatively traditional menu. As a vegetarian I thought it was going to be tough for me. When the meals came along with a side order of potato, I tasted the carrots and they were amazing. The vegetables served were so fresh and cooked perfectly. Similarly my guest had the pheasant that she... More

We met a friend here on a Sunday lunch time and managed to reserve a table about half an hour in advance. We had not realised that on a raw wet January day the village would be so busy. The pub was warm and seemed welcoming but the staff seemed to lack a bit of organisation and we got asked... More

The other day my group of friends and I chose to go out for Sunday lunch, and as the Red Lion is located in a tourist destination I thought I would be expecting better standards, as it is in competition with other pubs. The overall experience was very poor, the menu was over priced for the quantity of the dish... More

We came in after a rainy walk in need of a good lunch, my friends did ok but I got the toughest old sausages, cringingly salty mash and what was some kind of cheap bisto type gravy- soon after New Years but this food was totally unacceptable - I tried to politely battle through but ended up having to send... We popped in for lunch while on a journey. The pub was very sparsely populated being the first Monday after New Year and, while the staff were welcoming, the temperature wasn't .......we both kept our costs on( and so did most of the other visitors). The food was ok, although the menu "oversold" it more than a little. My wife's chargrilled... More

Went to red lion on December 20th around 1230pm on a rainy spell moment to warm up and have warm drinks etc, was met by a frozen reception from the bar maid who asked if we were just having drinks. I replied yes just drinks, the barmaid with glasses and mousy blonde hair mid 50s replied theres no were to... More

On our madmax tour, this pub was recommended by our tour guide for lunch. They had a variety of food such as fish and chips, sandwiches, Mac and cheese, soup, etc. On a time crunch, we ordered some sandwiches which were pretty good and decent. This is a counter service kind of restaurant and wouldn't mind stopping by again if... More
