The building is very interesting. The huge wood fire is an excellent focal point. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Up to this point all worthy of a very high rating. The downside is the food. Pretty mediocre pub fare. Below average.

2 years ago we booked a Christmas meal with family members it was superb, last Christmas we did the same thing and the meals were average to poor. Being fair minded people we put it down to an off day. Today we drove 40 miles to have a birthday meal at the Red Lion and must say that we were... More

Lovely meal had here with relatives. Being local I have always favoured The George but having had such an awful welcome from their current landlady, we chose to walk over to The Red Lion. We received Excellent food and service from all staff and were all in agreement that this is now our favoured pub in the Village. (Helped somewhat... More

Me, Mum (who is in a wheelchair currently & whose birthday it was), my sister (who has a dairy allergy) & a friend went to this pub twice yesterday, first for lunch, were everyone was catered for & there was a good range of sandwiches & light bites on offer. The service was really quick despite the pub being busy... More

Ok, so it was mid-afternoon out of school holidays so probably did not represent what it can be like. It was pleasantly busy but had fast attentive service. Food quality good if a bit pub predictable

Met a friend here for a light lunch. We arrived early but the pub was soon busy. Good service, food arrived promptly, chips excellent addition to my sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals and think its a good place to meet up in a beautiful village location. I imagine it does get very busy at weekends and in peak season.... More
