Good food & drink with space to enjoy it

Ok, so it was mid-afternoon out of school holidays so probably did not represent what it can be like. It was pleasantly busy but had fast attentive service. Food quality good if a bit pub predictable

Met a friend here for a light lunch. We arrived early but the pub was soon busy. Good service, food arrived promptly, chips excellent addition to my sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals and think its a good place to meet up in a beautiful village location. I imagine it does get very busy at weekends and in peak season.... More

we booked a table for 9 people, when we arrived was told that half the menu was not available due to a busy day, no chef on duty can only guess it was general staff person. food arrived and the salmon was smaller than a childs, and very dry, which was covered in sauce to hide, the pie you would... I ate here on two occasions, the award winning cow pie was delicious and the shin in a sauce was really good. A nice log burning fire adds a lovely warm ambience.

I went here with some friends from the USA.The beers was, as usual, good but we had to clear the table ourselves and noticed that hardly any tables outside had been cleared of used glasses and crockery. Most of the tables looked as though they had not been properly cleaned for the season. My friends were not impressed! However, apart from... More

Stopped for a quick drink while the rain passed. Two cappuccinos and one pot of tea came to £8 which isn't too bad but not great either for what we actually received. The tea was fine but you can't really go wrong there. The cappuccinos, however, were just milk with a tiny trace of coffee. The milk was also not... More

We visited Lacock looking for a light lunch before a friends wedding. We ended up parking in the Red Lions rear car park. We went in it was just afternoon so there was a choice of tables many near the log fires at either end of the pub. The interior is lovely, looks like it has recently been refreshed with... More

If you are looking at this pub then you are probably visiting the abbey and village at Lacock. It would seem that this pub is a popular destination for many tourists. The pub is a Wadworth pub and has a wide range of their ales on offer, which I really like; the 6X is one of my favourites. The menu... More

there were four of us and we had fish and chips X2- (one OK but the other really should have been sent back as it was a very thin piece of fish covered in a huge amount of batter and overcooked) one chicken breast- delicious, and the salmon. the apricot and sultana bread and butter pudding was superb! So a... More
