Warm friendly pub with excellent beer and good food

We enjoyed the hospitality at The Lion on two separate occasion. Excellent Wadworth's 6X is served combined with good quality (and excellent portions) pub grub. Prices were good value and pub was very dog friendly.

Having had a 100 mile drive, the first thing we did after parking-up was to seek out a place for lunch. The Red Lion seemed like a nice place, so we found seats inside as a bit of shelter from the midday sun. We didn't have starters or dessert, but went straight into the main course, which was lovely. I... More

We picked the hottest day of the year so far to visit Lacock, and after looking round the Abbey decided on The Red Lion for a late lunch. Very friendly greeting, the service was prompt and attentive. The menu is standard Wadsworth fare, and very good, the food also came quickly. The only suggestion would be a few more umbrellas... More

Being a local we visit the red lion regularly and have always enjoyed good food, however on this occasion we were extremely dissapointed. On the specials board was a chicken, bacon and blue cheese salad with a poached egg priced £10.95. Sounds delicious but in reality was awful. The salad arrived with a few lettuce leaves in middle of plate.... More

Having been out all day we were tired and didn't feel like going home to cook; so called in for a late afternoon lunch/early dinner. A lovely looking pub from the outide and the decor inside was very pleasant too. Outdoor seating are in the garden was a bonus. The pub was not overly busy and we were made welcome... More

I love lacock. We visit frequently. Being an all year round tourist attraction I expect something a little extra from the hospitality industry here. I do not understand why the menu here has become so basic and uninspiring. I had a small plate for lunch. 5 chips 2 of which were cold. An egg with a hard cold yolk. A... More

After not not seeing a server for more than 15 minutes at The George, we departed and fund the Red Lion round the bend where we received a hearty welcome, smiling faces, wonder lager and a hot delicious lunch in a crowded, lively, fun atmosphere.

It was a horrible wet Monday and we ran for shelter into this Pub. They had a log fire burning, and were so welcoming it was easy to forget the weather and just sit and relax. Had a super meal, the Chicken Liver Parfait was the best I have ever had, and they also offer small meals for those who... More
