We wanted to take friends from NZ to a quintessential English pub - the menu was good, but the customer service was fairly dire; having to forage for cutlery ourselves was a bit odd (having already had the food delivered to our table) and made much worse by the behaviour of an older member of staff who did not seem... We stopped in on a day tour after walking around the village for a while. I loved the village but there aren't a great deal of options for food and our tour guide recommended the Red Lion after two of the other pubs we stopped in told us that they do not offer lunch anymore. So we were running low... More

I went into The Red Lion mid-week to enjoy a light lunch and a drink after a full morning taking photos in the village. After placing my food order I sat down in the restaurant to enjoy a very nice cold drink on a hot summer day. My food arrived very quickly and it was first class, so much on... More

I visited the Red Lion today for a small family reunion. To begin with the service was prompt and efficient but deteriorated as the meal progressed. Particularly noteworthy was the lack of cutlery about which we had to remind the serving staff several times. The pate starter was excellent with a tasty chutney and a well dressed salad. The main... We came here for lunch in late May while touring the beautiful town of Lacock. Food orders are taken at the bar and we went to our seat. We had the Fish & Chips and the Roast Reef. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't amazing. At this place the fish had the skin on it still, which we found... More

This is the second visit within a month for our family. From the initial booking by telephone to the end of the meal we were impressed by the welcoming attitude and friendly service. The menu offers a good selection of food and was enjoyed by all. On the negative side there isn't a children's menu which makes it difficult for... More

Enjoyed the ploughman's lunch and a cream tea on the patio in back. Also a delish cider on tap. Order and psy at the bar, then they bring it to you. Also a nice display showing Harry Potter sites in town.

Visited The Red Lion today for fathers day and I think all fur coat and no knickers completely sums up my experience. The pub is lovely outside, is in a gorgeous setting and the refurb its had inside has been done well. However it was really the service that let the place down. When we arrived there was no one... I took a tour through the Cotswolds that stopped at this village for lunch. I had the fish and chips at this restaurant. It was very busy, but the food came out quickly. Absolutlely delicious- the best I have ever had. Along with a tall glass of cider, it was absolutely fantastic. So. Very. Tasty.

Sunday lunch: very busy but food came quickly and staff were caring and unharrassed. Food was good : not great but well worth the money and good to have option of smaller portions for my elderly parents.
