Terrible coffee

Stopped for a quick drink while the rain passed. Two cappuccinos and one pot of tea came to £8 which isn't too bad but not great either for what we actually received. The tea was fine but you can't really go wrong there. The cappuccinos, however, were just milk with a tiny trace of coffee. The... read more

We visited Lacock looking for a light lunch before a friends wedding. We ended up parking in the Red Lions rear car park. We went in it was just afternoon so there was a choice of tables many near the log fires at either end of the pub. The interior is lovely, looks like it has recently been refreshed with... More

If you are looking at this pub then you are probably visiting the abbey and village at Lacock. It would seem that this pub is a popular destination for many tourists. The pub is a Wadworth pub and has a wide range of their ales on offer, which I really like; the 6X is one of my favourites. The menu... More

there were four of us and we had fish and chips X2- (one OK but the other really should have been sent back as it was a very thin piece of fish covered in a huge amount of batter and overcooked) one chicken breast- delicious, and the salmon. the apricot and sultana bread and butter pudding was superb! So a... More

Visited the Red Lion this week, and decided on the Ham, egg and chips option (large portion) When the meal arrived I counted eleven chips, found the eggs hard and the ham tough. At no point were we asked if everything was fine otherwise I would have complained. Hate to think how many chips I would have got on the... More

We enjoyed our late lunch here on the recommendation of our guide and the food did not disappoint. The fish & chips portion was big. The pulled pork sandwich was passable and the chicken liver parfait was super with the hot toast and accompanying chutney. We finish our meal with the Bailey's creme brulee and it was just nice with... More

We have been here a few times. We have stayed overnight in the past. The food is a good standard, not much choice in ale but the rest of the bar is well stocked. The rooms are clean and very well presented. Can get a little noisy if you stay in the room over the kitchen. The staff are great.... More

In Lacock around lunchtime, we liked the look of the menu posted outside the Red Lion and went inside to see what's what. We were greeted warmly, served promptly with a smile and chose a table by the warm fireplace. The menu offered a great choice and the sandwiches we ordered arrived quickly and proved to be freshly prepared and... More

My wife and I have lunched at the Red Lion on 2 occasions recently and not been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food well above average for a pub, and the atmosphere is warm and convivial if a little frenetic at weekends. In fact the Red Lion is one of the very best aspects about Lacock;... More
