The Talbot came highly recommended by friends who know their food. We weren't disappointed! The restaurant was having acoustic boards fitted (demonstrating how the Talbot have listened to feedback re the noise in the restaurant) so we opted to sit in the courtyard in the sunshine. We did however have a look around the bar area which also looks great.... More

Made several visits to The Talbot over a week organising a function. The staff were very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious with an excellent choice. Our eventual event also went very well.

Lunched with friends in this delightful restaurant in Cuckfield High Street where we were rewarded with tasty food and attentive yet unobtrusive service. Our friends booked so this was our first visit and although the place filled right up and emptied again while we chatted we were not aware of the noise issue mentioned in some reviews I have read.... Such am amazing surprise. My husband & I were staying at Ockenden Manor for a spa weekend and didn't feel up to going to their Michelin star restaurant for dinner so took our chances with the pub on the high street...best idea ever! For starters we shared the pigeon breast which was incredible! It had a sort of sweet balsamic... More

Ate here when passing. The positives are that the service was friendly and quick and the food was tasty, perhaps a little pricy but nice. Unfortunately the acoustics in the restaurant bit were terrible. We had a party of 6 nearby and whilst they were a bit loud the room acoustics meant we couldn't hear our own conversation. As for... we visited The Talbot because we had won a raffle prize for a three course meal for two. Bearing this in mind we were treated very well. The menu was varied and comprehensive with touches of local and seasonal food. A good value wine list made choosing difficult but we were pleased with the Red wine we selected. The food... More

Four of us had lunch there last Sunday - booking is essential in my view, as it is a very popular venue. The service was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was of a high standard and plentiful. We all very much enjoyed our various meals. The only criticism we had was that when full, it was very noisy. Unfortunately,... More

Went along two of us. Welcomed in by friendly and attentive staff. Got chatting about the paintings on the wall by local artist. Ordered salmon and risotto as mains, very nice dishes, especially the salmon. Presentation also spot on, lots of colours and textures, well thought out with good portion sizes. Desserts on the pricey side but was a solid... More
