This is a lovely country pub right on the Weir. The restaurant was crowded, but our food arrived in good time and was delicious. The menu isn't huge, but there is a good variety. Our steaks were cooked to order, and very tender, the wine was inexpensive and good, and the cheese platter was enormous. The staff were friendly and... More

The Bottom Ship is a charming pub in the equally charming Porlock Weir. We ate here on a weekday night in August and by 7 30 every table was full, so get there early to make sure you get a table. The bar staff were friendly, and offered local ciders and beers. The menu was slightly upmarket pub style, but... More

We enjoyed 3 different lunchtime meals at The Bottom Ship - all well presented and good quality. Even advised us we could move quickly under the marquis if rain arrived on the very showery day. If you want good ordinary pub food, served with a smile, and a choice of local ales, this is a great place to go. In... More

Dined here over 3 nights. Fish and Chips, Steak and Steak pie were fabulous. Best beer was Otter. Didn't like the Exmoor brews.

Stayed in Porlock Weir for a week and on our first attempt at eating here despite advertising food served until 8.45pm we arrived just after 8pm and were told they had finished serving food so left disappointed. We returned on a different evening and had a really lovely meal. I had hunter's chicken which was very good and my husband... More

the Bottom ship is a real find - very good for couples and families alike. We sat outside to watch the world go by and the sea coming in before going in to eat. There was a range of local-ish beers and ciders to choose from which was obviously a big draw. The portions of food were generous but not... More

Arrived at the Bottom Ship to be greeted by friendly and attentive staff. The pub was heaving but our food and drinks order was expedited very quickly. Great atmosphere. Would go there again most definitely. Part of a trio of dining experiences in Porlock Weir. Sit at a table outside to get the beauty of this little village.

After spending a week in Porlock we made several visits to the bottom ship and the weir walking along the coast. The view from the outside beer garden is simply stunning! Great pub food and good range of local beers and ciders, well recommended.

Stopped at the Lower Ship on three occasions once just for a drink after walking to Culbone and twice for evening meals. On all occasions we received good service. Good selection of real ales and cider. Meals were all fine well priced and good amounts. This is a fine pub in a great location which we always try to visit.
