Best seafood taster menu, ever. Breakfast also excellent. Loved the sardine starter, followed end by smoked salmon with unusual dressing. Next course was an amazing crab & lobster sausage. I know sounds strange but oh so tasty. Followed by place, samphire capers & new potatoes. Dessert tasty berry baravoir. Nothing to dislike at all. Everything perfect. Service excellent.

We thought we'd give this place a try, we go to Porlock regularly but never really noticed it before. Firstly, it's not a cafe, despite being called 'The Cafe'. This could catch you out, especially if you don't bother to read the menu outside. As you make your way in there's a room with tables on the left, but no... More

On holiday in the area this year, we ate at quite a new very nice place in Allerford called Cross Lane House and enjoyed good quality food there, but we also ate in Porlock Weir twice since it was only a short walk to there. On both occasions we ate out of the Cross; I say 'out of' since although... More

A beautiful setting for a great 5 course seafood tasting menu.... I like the usual, cod, salmon, tinned sardines etc... So wanted something a little different. We certainly got it and value for money... We had an Amazon Local deal, so half price... Each course was small but adequate with bread, potatoes and veg, the dessert was to die for...... More

We visited The Cafe for lunch whilst on holiday in Porlock Weir. The food was delicious. I had a ploughmans lunch, and it is the biggest and nicest ploughmans I have ever had. Everything appeared to be homemade even the pickles and relishes etc. They were not very busy, but the staff were very attentive and the setting in Porlock... More

We did not choose the menu ourselves as our friends had chosen and booked us all the taster menu. We almost certainly would not have chosen it. There were 5 courses, four of which were fish. Each course was small but all were rather rich with minimal salad or vegetables. First was a grilled sardine then gravadlux salmon followed by... More

After spending a week staying in Exmoor, sampling lots of the restaurants around Porlock and Porlock Weir, it's true to say that the standard of food is very high. The food here was of a good quality, but perhaps on the expensive side. We ate here with 2 dogs, so had to eat in the bar, and didn't see the... More

A pleasant hotel that specialises in excellent food, well presented. We've eaten there often for special occasions, but it's expensive for a large family on a budget.

Excellent food, set in a great location overlooking the bay and Bristol Channel. We enjoyed the five course fish tasting menu, opted out of including the wines paired with each course though. Well presented food, great combinations with very good sized portions. Go with an appetite. The staff were attentive and friendly. However, which is such a shame, there is... More

Went for a tasting menu at The Cafe. The food was excellent, but the actual place had no ambience or character to it.Was like someone had just put 4 tables in their front room and called it a restaurant
