The £5 fish & chips remains a great enough reason for a good review!

Visiting The Cafe this time we noticed that since our last visit they had swapped the layout around, so the main room with the bar is where the restaurant is now; perhaps this has helped the general lack of atmosphere, but don't know as we were just going for our usual fish & chips. The £5... read more

Met up with friends for lunch here last week. Good choice of options available. All 8 in our party had good meals and the smoked salmon and crab sandwiches received particular praise from those enjoying them. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine & view. Service was very good and the staff friendly. Well behaved dogs were welcome. Lovely murals... More

We visited here on a travelzoo offer and had the fish taster menu. The fish was very good, beautifully cooked. Would have liked a bit more veg but that is a small point. The lemon posset was wonderful and also the breakfast the following morning was very good. I always have kippers if possible when staying away, here I had... More

We enjoyed an excellent Sunday Roast Dinner and decided to visit the Café again later in the week for lunch but we were disappointed on our return visit. We had not booked this time but the restaurant was very quiet. When we enquired about a table however, we were shown to the lounge bar which was completely empty and when... More

A party of four of us visited this restaurant/hotel for a much needed cup of tea. The room in which we had our tea was large and faced the sea. The big, bay window gave a delightful view of the Weir and holiday makers. People were also taking tea in the garden. The service and quality was excellent and we... More

We tried the five course "taster" menu, which was absolutely superb and great value for money. We sat in the window seat of a very small dining room overlooking the beautiful Porlock Weir and enjoyed the view whilst eating very generous portions of an excellent variety of well cooked and well presented fish dishes. The only down side was the... More

We went here for dinner one night, we were a bit early and had a drink first in the bar (would recommend booking for dinner as the place is not very big). The dining area was lovely and fresh looking and while not very large, you were nicely spaced from other tables. The food and presentation were lovely, very tasty.... More

Last Saturday we had the pleasure of returning to The Café at Porlock Weir. Don't let the name mislead you as the culinary delights served here are far from that of a typical café. We all absolutely loved each and every course, the standard of fish truly was exceptional from the combination of flavours to the presentation. We chose Lanark... More

Went to The Café to try their 5 course fish meals. went with high hopes having seen the recent reviews. However, we found that the restaurant was, for us, lacking in any sort of atmosphere- so important when looking to enjoy a good meal. Dare I say also, that the fish dishes were unexceptional. Our waitress was most pleasant but... More
