Whilst visiting friends in Shropshire we made the big mistake of booking a Sunday evenening dinner at the Longmynd Hotel. This Jurassic dinaosaur of a hotel is living on past glories of a era long gone. Mediocre food poorly served in a restaurant with no atmosphrere at all. You would expect four people who order the same meal would get... More

I booked my friend and i in for an afternoon tea (it was her birthday treat from me ) the price was very reasonable £9.95 per person for full afternoon tea. We arrived @ 4.20 and booked in .. Choose our seats .. We sat inside as it was such a hot day .. There was seating outside on decking... More

Standard English cooking which may appeal to those wanting simply prepared meals. Good views across hills through large windows. Attractive lounge with comfortable armchairs and sofas.

The Longmynd is an amazing hotel set in stunning scenery but it always feels like Fawlty Towers. The smell of cooking dinners, elderly visitors chomping on carvery lunches and absolutely NO atmosphere all make it a place we WISH would be bought up by some rich entrpreneur who gave it a complete overhall. It COULD be the best place to... More

Having never been here before i was slightly unsure but a lovely welcome and friendly staff. The meal was excellent....good food and good value. A lovely prawn and smoked salmon starter then rack of lamb cooked to perfection with lots of vegetables which were included...a refreshing change not having to pay extra for vegetables I will be returning as as... The restaurant is cosy but not overly so. The service was excellent as was the food. There was a lot of vegetarian food on offer - but I was at a conference so not sure what the restaurant fare is usually.

Now I have to be honest but I didn't stay here or even eat here but I did walk the grounds searching for the sculptures on the trail, which the tourist brochure told me about. I do not know how many there are but I found a fair few. Was a lovely trail on a clear dry chilly winters day,... More

A pleasantly relaxed traditional Hotel. Staff are helpful, whether you are a resident or "drop in". Excellent views, particularly from the bar and dining room which look down between the dramatic hillsides towards Ludlow. An excellent spot to escape to or to use as a base to explore the Marches. .

We came here at the same time a year ago and had a lovely Sunday lunch and so we booked again this year. However, the meal was really poor. The soup was ok, but the meat was dreadful - the beef was tough and dry and my partner was hardly able to get his knife through the meat to cut... More
