Adequate fare with no embellishments

Standard English cooking which may appeal to those wanting simply prepared meals. Good views across hills through large windows. Attractive lounge with comfortable armchairs and sofas.

We visited here for a weekend Hike with HF Holidays. The self Hikes through the heather covered hills was breathtaking. The stay at the hotel was quiet and restful , and the Food was the best we had in all of England!

The choices on the menu were always interesting, and whatever was chosen was good! Service was generally quick and efficient, and staff were very pleasant

Breakfast here is a bit lacking with only one choice of fruit yoghurt (strawberry), cold toast which is thin sliced bread so like eating cardboard and all the bowls of fruit were out of tins with not a melon in sight.

As in my review it is poorly kept up and designed for coach trips with tables for 8-10 people only. Breakfast was great, staff great. Did not bother with evening meals there because of the set up and limited menu........................................................................................

We only booked the hotel the day before via Laterooms.com. Having read some reviews and looking at some unflattering photos we were unsure what to expect. The approach is up a very steep winding hill (a def no go in snowy/icy winter without a good 4x4). The hotel looks dated and run down but once inside it is actually fine.... More

The sign for the hotel had all the info covered up with duct tape so we did not bother to climb the hill to see what it was like. Be a little wary.

We were well fed over a period of four nights. The first evening was a buffet style meal, and there was more than enough of each course for everyone. After that we had a choice of one from four starters, main courses and desserts. There was enough for everyone, even those who had been out on an energetic walk that... More

Whilst visiting friends in Shropshire we made the big mistake of booking a Sunday evenening dinner at the Longmynd Hotel. This Jurassic dinaosaur of a hotel is living on past glories of a era long gone. Mediocre food poorly served in a restaurant with no atmosphrere at all. You would expect four people who order the same meal would get... More
