Good honest food

The food was fine, you get what you pay for good honest food at an honest price. Staff friendly enough. Would not go for a special occasion but fine to take kids and family for evening meal.

We were left very disappointed by our meal last night at Affcott. We have previously been very impressed so expected the same again, however wasn't to be! Starters were ok but the "garlic bread" we were served was disgraceful! One of the bake from frozen baguettes (the 2 for 79p kind) and was rock hard and on the verge of... More

Shame you didn't take your time to voice your opinion when you were here, it takes great courage to leave and start writing ! Unfortunately your comments are incorrect and seem quite personal when "urging others to keep away". Hope you get better service else where. More

Possibly the best meal ever! The chicken and ham pie was just amazing! With a selection of vegetables (including cauliflower cheese - bonus!) We nearly didn't stop as the signs outside make it look more like a motel but we're very glad we gave it a go. The lounge area is lovely and there is a dining area in the... More

My sister booked a large group for her birthday as we were staying in a nearby barn. It is a Carvery on Sunday. The price is £14.95 for two courses. There was a choice of beef, turkey and pork, the potatoes were crispy, veg beautifully cooked and lots of choice and Yorkshire puddings I have never seen the size of... More

An unplanned evening out with a couple of friends. Beer from the Ludlow Brewers was on good form. We had a lovely pub meal and were treated well. Well done Affcott.

We'd heard plenty of great reports on the Sunday carvery here and finally decided to give it a try. Not disappointed at all and we were absolutely stuffed - pleasantly of course. Eyes always bigger than stomach. As yet we've not had a meal from the ordinary menu but I would imagine that would be fine as well. Soon: very... More

I cannot comment on the hotel side of the business - but we have stopped at this pub on a couple of occasions for a meal recently. Having read some of the previous reviews, we are quite surprised at some of the comments. The food was delicious on both occasions. We will certainly be visiting again.

Plenty of hot food. Only complaint was roast potatoes were over cooked and broke my fork. Suggest they should not have been put out as plenty of food there that was lovely. Deserts were lovely to. Pastry of 10 aged 5 to 81. All very full and happy.

Stopped here while on a long journey on the A49. Food was OK, service was adequate and friendly enough, but it was just a dull place with slightly tired decor. Nothing wrong, but nothing to make you want to return, except for the handy location and large car park.
