Expensive cold food and very small portions, owner was rude. This place can only survive from passing trade because once you'd experienced the place you wouldn't return.

I had anticipated a warm and friendly welcome seeing a wholefood sign up but sadly this was not the case. Dogs allowed but reminded quite clearly, in one room only and was told this with disdain. I'm afraid that their attitude left a lot to be desired and makes me wonder why people run a service industry business, when they... More

We were lucky to visit during half term as the Cafe was open longer hours during this week, we had wonderful homemade soup and cottages pie, both were lovely. We understand that the owners are winding down their opening hours. We only hope that whoever takes this remarkable Cafe on, they continue to source local food and home cooking. This... More

Had lunch at the Acorn today. The food was very good and well presented. However I was disappointed to find I could not pay with my card. There was no indication either on the board outside or on the menus on the table to indicate that it was a cash only establishment. Although the young lady who served me was... More

Attitude of owner was awful - BUT - the coffee and pot of tea was very good, and the date and walnut cake was good also. Will definitely NOT be going again!!

Have been twice to this café recently. Food was fine, served by two young girls who were pleasant and helpful. No complaints.

Owner should retire properly but café/tea room should remain with new staff. Food nice. Sarcastic attitude, her staff (young man) was very polite, café was empty when we visited. Place could do with spruce up and new owners, people who actually enjoy people and interacting with them. It is really good to see a vegan café/tea room but attitude of... More

Went to the cafe after a walk a couple of days ago. Arrived at around 15 mins to closing time. (We discovered later) We could see no indication of operating times displayed anywhere either inside or outside the cafe. After a very unwelcome response from the lady, I wish we had turned around and left. Instead, we tried to stay... More

Called in for a quick snack on Sunday, the cafe was empty. The young man who took our order was polite, that is the only positive comment I can find to say about the experience. We ordered baked potatoes with various fillings, when served they were mushy, warm, tasteless and over cooked. When paying the bill we found the elderly... More

Unfortunately for us, The Acorn seems to be winding down, as the owner is now semi retired. I used to enjoy weekday eating there, but it is now only open on Saturday, Sunday, and one week day, apart from school holidays. The food is still as good, and the staff friendly and good at their job. Like Ginger and Green... More
