Lovely old pub with great food

Caravanning nearby, we chose to eat here on our final night after having already tried the beers (excellent choice and well kept) earlier in the week. Lovely atmosphere in a real old pub and the food was delicious. Yes, the landlord blows a bit hot and cold but everything else outweighed that.

As usual lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. Had a good laugh with the lovely staff. I had sword fish which was lovely and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. The men had the pies and iced grill. Plenty of food all full and happy.

This is my local and I feel the need to write my review having read a few rather curt reviews that have been written. A 15th Century Pub/Restaurant, quarried flooring, exposed oak timbers, open fire and traditional tables and chairs await you. Outside you will find wooden benches and beautiful Shropshire countryside, a short distance to/from Church Stretton. The food... More

We had the rump of lamb and the belly pork - both were absolutely delicious. The girls behind the bar were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was fantastic, this is a great traditional, old country pub. Highly recommended.

We stopped there on Saturday night at 6.00pm for a drink and to read the papers. They were setting up for dinner but we asked the barmaid if we could sit at one of the laid up tables as we were only going to be there for half an hour and the light was much better for reading the papers.... More

The food we had for our lunch was fine but if we had visited the toilets before we had chosen we would not have stayed. Both the gents and ladies were in a bad state of disrepair and not very clean at all. The outside of the building is also not very welcoming and in need of a good bit... More

I have called into this quaint little pub a few times to be presented with a grumpy barman who really doesn't seem to have any social skills with customers or maybe it's just unfamiliar customers. I really really love the pub and so going in one weekend recently I was delighted to be served by a lovely bubbly blonde girl... More

This pub improved over the weekend, but I got the impression the owner is either anti tourist, or was having a bad day. Twice we were ignored on two occasions. Second time I got served AFTER two locals whom were sat at the bar. The staff saw I was clearly next, but chose to ignore me. Shame really as is... More

Have eaten there a few times, very quirky, lovely on a warm day to sit outside or by the fire when it is cold. Food never lets them down.

We had an evening meal of home made and home cooked food. Very good and reasonably priced. I had booked in advance and we were made very welcome. Good choice of food and drinks on menu, I would throroughly recommend this pub for anyone walking in the area, either at lunchtime or evening.
