We had a decent pint here, sat out in the garden, although I received a rather frosty welcome from the landlady, in common with other contributors. The toilets here are something to behold, with a boarded up window and filthy hand towel. I hope hygiene standards in the kitchen are better.

Beautiful area, stunning village. BUT We have been to this pub twice and each time both the landlord and landlady have been unfriendly. Enjoyed our drink but would think twice about returning.

We have visited this pub twice and on both occasions the landlord has been "off" with us. On the most recent occasion, he rolled his eyes when we asked for a sample of one of the beers on draft. He also clearly did not like it when we pointed out that we had booked a table in the bar and... More

We made a point of finding this pub for lunch as we had heard and read so much about the Royal Oak being the oldest in Shropshire. We got lost for at least an hour as we drove up and down the tiny little country lanes, but the scenery was glorious with all the wild flowers in bloom, it was... More

Off the beaton track you find a real gem of a pub. Classic decor- brick fireplace, oak furniture and open to all. Menu choice is excellent plus the specials giving great value for money. The owners have obviously worked hard to make this a success and should be complimented on the result.

After a lovely walk in the surrounding countryside we settled down to some well deserved food and were not disappointed. With a choice of the regular menu and specials there was plenty to choose from and with real ales on tap everyone was happy. The food was hearty, felt home cooked and service was fantastic. Helped to top off a... More

This was a delightful find after a long day's walking. A nice range of ales, 5 veggie dishes to choose from (we are both veggie) delicious home made desserts - and the landlady didn't bat an eyelid when we requested liquer coffees, even though they weren't on the menu. I had grilled goats cheese rounds on beetroot with fresh salad... More

Once again , twelve month after our last visit .We booked in person a few days before hand , this pub ooozzzes character and was certainly not built for a 7ft landlord ! The starters were out of this world and not for the faint hearted , The mains were also good value and well presented , leaving us to... More

The Royal Oak was our half way stop on a wonderful walk in the hills around Church Stretton. Warm and friendly welcome with lovely country pub food. Great Fish & chips and baguettes. Fellow dinners rated the fish and steak options. Good range of beers on tap.

Group of 4 had lunch here in middle of walk from Church Stretton. Ploughman's, baguettes and sandwiches all huge. We didn't need the extra chips that we ordered, but they were very good so mist got eaten. Coffee good. Overall food and drink excellent value for money. Service friendly enough but toilets need refurbishment. More than adequate for a group... More
