Good place in town for the thirsty walker - friendly atmosphere and good choice of bitter and lager, there is a good walk to be had doing the circuit of pubs in the town.

A lovely old country pub in the beautiful village of Cardington - you can feel the atmosphere as soon as you walk in through the door. We had a really good welcome from the landlord and the meals were very generous and nicely presented. We all had different meals - the fidget pie, game pie, burger and Thai curry and... More

It is a lovely old pub but the food was not as good as expected. It is the only pub in the village and was convenient for people staying or living nearby. We visited couple of times and decided to go somewhere else.

We had a decent pint here, sat out in the garden, although I received a rather frosty welcome from the landlady, in common with other contributors. The toilets here are something to behold, with a boarded up window and filthy hand towel. I hope hygiene standards in the kitchen are better.

Beautiful area, stunning village. BUT We have been to this pub twice and each time both the landlord and landlady have been unfriendly. Enjoyed our drink but would think twice about returning.

We have visited this pub twice and on both occasions the landlord has been "off" with us. On the most recent occasion, he rolled his eyes when we asked for a sample of one of the beers on draft. He also clearly did not like it when we pointed out that we had booked a table in the bar and... More

We made a point of finding this pub for lunch as we had heard and read so much about the Royal Oak being the oldest in Shropshire. We got lost for at least an hour as we drove up and down the tiny little country lanes, but the scenery was glorious with all the wild flowers in bloom, it was... More

Off the beaton track you find a real gem of a pub. Classic decor- brick fireplace, oak furniture and open to all. Menu choice is excellent plus the specials giving great value for money. The owners have obviously worked hard to make this a success and should be complimented on the result.

After a lovely walk in the surrounding countryside we settled down to some well deserved food and were not disappointed. With a choice of the regular menu and specials there was plenty to choose from and with real ales on tap everyone was happy. The food was hearty, felt home cooked and service was fantastic. Helped to top off a... More
