Excellent food, but very small main course portions and too long between courses

We all had 3 courses and thought the various dishes were excellent quality. The main courses were however very small and there was a very long wait between courses. Left the restaurant feeling hungry. For these reasons my overall score is poor. Unlikely to return.

This is my second visit to The Pound and I will definitely return. Fantastic restaurant with happy and friendly staff. The food is just absolutely amazing....I started with the confit chicken wings, then on to the salmon fillet, monkfish cheeks with white crab croquette...every bite was divine. I didn't want the meal to end so I ordered the white chocolate... More

My husband and I visited Friday evening (20/3/15) to celebrate our anniversary, after being told it has been taken over by new owners. We were greeted by smiling staff at the bar and seen to for drinks order straight away. We had a drink at the bar and were given a menu to look at before the owner came and... More

New owners are in and the atmosphere has changed, the food is amazing and the beers are local! I visited on Sunday with friends and we weren't disappointed! We pulled into the car park and the place was packed (spoke to the locals and they told me it hasn't been like this for sometime) we ordered drinks at the bar... More

The young man waiting table was pleasant but clueless. The landlady/owner was quite scary and we felt that at any moment she would swear at us after we asked for certain things. The pasta dish my partner had was very bland and on asking for some parmesan were told in no uncertain terms that they had none and that there... More

Been here a few times over the years for various occasions and I fall more in love with the place every time! The staff are divine - it's like being welcomed home, the place is gorgeous and the food is just wonderful!

This is a historic pub on the site of an animal pound, which has really gone down market with a tacky one pound coin sign (!), a lovely country pub style interior gutted by a refurb and replaced with ghastly modern fittings. The food was disappointing and came in so-called pretty patterns on square plates. Heartbreaking when one considers the... More

We have visited the Pound on a number of occasions recently for a family meal and have always found both the food and the service to be excellent.

For the prices charged here, we expected better. Service was good but we were underwhelmed by the food. Some courses like my wife's goat's cheese starter were ok but both my courses were poor. For £6 my starter consisted of two pieces of under ripe melon and a meager portion of parma ham. My main course was supposedly slow cooked... More
