The Pound at Leebotwood is a 15th century thatched country pub and restaurant, situated in the heart of rural picturesque Shropshire countryside and is run by Neil & Sarah McCann. Our menu offers dishes created from fresh local ingredients, we use local and artisan suppliers, within a 30 mile radius where possible. Neil and Harry change the menus in tune with the seasons, so there will always be something new on the menu. We offer a classic Sunday lunch menu every week, always serving three roasts along with elements of our menu to suit all tastes and appetites.

Travelling home from a week in the Yorkshire Dales we were badly in need of lunch - but somehow couldn't find anywhere that looked inviting .... until we happened on the Pound. Called in on spec early last night, Saturday 30th May. Not a very warm welcome! Eventually offered a table, waited 15 minutes for order to be taken. Starters pretentious, looked very pretty, but not much substance. Main courses were delicious. We were undecided if we should have a dessert as we had overheard the young waiter describe one of the... More

After having a pint in the nice seating area I was greated by the waitress who gave us the menus (which I had seen online) I have to be honest, the menu doesn't give anything away. It lists a few ingredients of the dishes but nothing more. But what greated me was nothing short of stunning. A fabulous starter which... More

Tonight, at The Pound, I had the best meal I have ever eaten. The ham hock was a superb starter, and the jus accompanying the fish course was absolutely delicious. Sarah and her front of house staff, we're professional, extremely pleasant, and helpful. Neil the chef, produced a portrait on each plate which tasted as good as it looked. This... More

It is a pleasure to see a young couple branching out on their own make an immediate, and very positive impact at The Pound Inn. Sarah and Neal have learned their trade well and have applied their skills with intelligence and sensitivity to this very pleasant local pub / restaurant. The young staff have been well trained by Sarah and... More

I was really looking to visiting The Pound for the first time since the new owners recently took the place on. I was greeted with a warm smile and the service throughout the evening from all the staff was excellent - genuinely friendly, professional and efficient. I had the ham hock and chervil terrine starter which was fresh, had great... More

We have been to this restaurant a number of times over a couple of years and it has never disappointed with food & service. We revisited a week ago to discover that it had changed owners & can say that the quality of food & service is as good if not better than before & would thoroughly recommend.

Brialliant food. Sublime service. Very filling. It is a old ( very) pub. The owners have recentley taken it over. They are trying to revert it to what it was. Will take time. Have dined throughout Europe in my travels. Will go back to this one again and again. Chef will ( tweak menu according to season). They have employed... More

The Pound review has caused me some difficulty. Whilst the actual food was very good there were a number of other issues which were not so good. I understand this ‘Pub’ has recently undergone a refurbishment. It has no period features inside, bland and utilitarian. To advertise it as 15 century country pub is misleading. It the same as thousands... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to us at The Pound. The pub was built around the 15th century, was refurbished approximately 9 years ago, and my husband and I took over mid March. We are pleased you enjoyed your meal, and take all your comments on board, we welcome constructive feedback, and aim to rectify... More
