Nondescript food, refurb has ruined the interior of this pub

This is a historic pub on the site of an animal pound, which has really gone down market with a tacky one pound coin sign (!), a lovely country pub style interior gutted by a refurb and replaced with ghastly modern fittings. The food was disappointing and came in so-called pretty patterns on square... read more

We have visited the Pound on a number of occasions recently for a family meal and have always found both the food and the service to be excellent.

For the prices charged here, we expected better. Service was good but we were underwhelmed by the food. Some courses like my wife's goat's cheese starter were ok but both my courses were poor. For £6 my starter consisted of two pieces of under ripe melon and a meager portion of parma ham. My main course was supposedly slow cooked... More

Such a lovely restaurant and bar in Leebotwood. We were greeted by a lovely lady and served fantastic food. I love the interesting artwork that adorns the walls. Very nice place, would definitely like to visit again.

Often passed this pretty looking pub on our travels and decided it would be a convenient place to have lunch with visiting relatives. We arrived at 11.50am and made our way to the entrance - it was closed but a sign indicated the opening hours began at 12.00, we stood in the porch to wait for the 5 minutes or... More

Had lovely pea and rocket soup, scrumptious, but not keen on the white bread served with it. Pork sunday roast lovely and succulent and enjoyed it very much.

We have eaten here over 20 times over the years! My fiancé and I come here at least once a month!and last year also are here on Christmas Day, we can not speak more highly of this place, it's warm and welcoming service is amazing. The food is the best around (the godfather) we would never want it to change,... More

This pub doesn't look particularly inviting from the car park, but it does have a nice reception and bar area. The dining room is fitted out in a contemporary, minimalist style with some quirky pictures on the wall. There is little atmosphere and this could be improved by making dining areas less open plan and more intimate. Having said all... More

The food is unbelievably good. We could not understand why the place was so quiet on a Friday night but it was. The atmosphere could perhaps be better but the food certainly could not.

My wife and I recently revisited the Pound having celebrated our wedding reception there in April 2012 when, on that occasion, we were absolutely overwhelmed by the wonderful treatment that we received . We have returned on a few occasions, both for lunch and evening meals, and have never had any cause to complain whatsoever with the quality of the... More
