This cafe is recommended by Lonely Planet and could be fantastic. The view is good, The food looked good and some tasted good. I ma prompted ot review becase the service was very bad. The women in charge who I believe is the owner was one fo the grumpier people we met on a 5month tour of Europe. She was loudly critical of and to the young man working there, she was unwelcoming and ignored much of what we said to her. The coffee was ok but made with reluctance and an offhand attitude. We felt as if we were intruding in her space and a real nuisance -- at 11 am !!. We had driven out of the way to get to a place which we felt would be special place for a coffee. It was but in all the wrong ways. We are New Zealanders who do not normally complain but this place was worth complaining about.

Coffee, cake, amazing bookshop attached, love it!

Eco, fair trade, etc is the ethos, it's not posh, it's thoughtful and comfortable declares its love of the outdoors and adventurous passions has lovely coffee and treats and the lovely Aleisha is a wonderful, caring person. We spent a few mornings planning our days out in this place. Our holiday... read more

I absolutely love this little cafe. Bit cluttered but homely and welcoming, great coffee and cakes of all kind. The view from the sunroom and the outside terrace are sublime. I always pop into the bookshop and pick up something interesting when I'm there, got some of my favourite mountain books from there.

Visited this coffee shop many times before but not during the last 10 years. Took my teenage kids there for hot chocolate and cake....I have often raved about this place over the years & I think they now understand why. If you are a lover of mountains, beaches & good coffee this cafe is for you. Great bookshop with unusual... More

Nice coffee, it is expensive especially if you add cake. I like it here but there seems to be books on cannabis everywhere even how to make roll ups...why? This is a coffee shop. Ok! they may want to give out a hippy image, but like it or not cannabis is illegal. They seem to want to push some subliminal... More

We stopped here to take some pictures of The Mountains of Torridon from the car park and being a coffee fanatic this place seemed worth a visit. It is a scruffy mixture of coffee shop/bakery book shop and gifts. Although not busy the single person at the counter seemed harassed. The prominently advertised scones were not available but sandwiches could... More

Drove to Gairloch for my birthday lunch, hoped to go to the Myrtle Bank hotel but two coaches had arrived before us, so being hungry we tried the Mountain Coffee company as was the only place we could find open. On offer was vegetable soup or bagels, we ordered the soup, well I've never seen khaki green vegetable soup, it... More

We didn't plan to stop but it looked like a fairy tale.. We entered inside and it was so nice that we stooped for coffee and soup. it was very tasty and very expensive. even so, I would recommend strongly to visit and stay for a brake because it is so nice.

We opened the door to the smell of freshly ground coffee beans. We ordered soup of the day, it was potato, leek and spring onion, we got a wheaten roll (not home baked) it cost us £9.70, city prices are less than £5 for soup and a sandwich! We then bought 2 coffee's a scone and a piece of cake... More

Very welcoming and friendly. Quiet when I was there, but it was December. Lovely location with handy parking and interesting decor.

We were making the loop south of Ullapool and had just about despaired of finding a cafe open in the late afternoon. The Mountain Coffee Company turned out to be a great boon. They offered a variety of options, most in the comfort food range and plenty of choice for vegetarians. Plus excellent coffee. The shop contained many good books,... More
