Cuisines: Coffee Shop
Dining options: Breakfast/Brunch
Description: This cafe is recommended by Lonely Planet and could be fantastic. The view is good, The food looked good and some tasted good. I ma prompted ot review becase the service was very bad. The women in charge who I believe is the owner was one fo the grumpier people we met on a 5month tour of Europe. She was loudly critical of and to the young man working there, she was unwelcoming and ignored much of what we said to her. The coffee was ok but made with reluctance and an offhand attitude. We felt as if we were intruding in her space and a real nuisance -- at 11 am !!. We had driven out of the way to get to a place which we felt would be special place for a coffee. It was but in all the wrong ways. We are New Zealanders who do not normally complain but this place was worth complaining about.

What a lovely place to stop for tasty treats :) Would have stayed longer and drunk lots more coffee and ate more of their delicious cakes had there had been wifi available.

We love coming here for the coffee, the views, the adjoining bookshop and the fun interior, but it's a real shame the food just isn't up to the same standard. We've been coming to the area for 14 years, and we've tried soup and cakes a couple of times, but sadly it's not improved. The soup lacks flavour and the... More

Once again this place didn't let us down. The scones were as huge as ever...a meal in themselves and ultra-tasty. We've been here loads of times and we have never had a bad experience so I have difficulty believing the poor reviews. I love the reading material which is available to read with your coffee...and the bookshop next door. And... More

This rather quirky and eclectic mix of coffee, cakes, books and wildlife conservation information makes for a cosy and fascinating coffee break! Delicious and pleasingly large portions of cake/homemade scones etc. along with every possible variety of coffee (including the rather wacky Yeti coffee - try it for sheer gluttony and excess!). Despite some other reviewers complaining about the prices,... More

We didn't try any food but the coffee was good. Mine with soya especially nice as the milk wasn't sweetened. Very individual interior with lots of literature to browse as we sheltered from the rain!

I just got back fro a trip to Gairloch and one day while there I visited the safe and bookshop next door. The coffee and scones are good but pricey. The bookstore is something else! I live to browse in a bookshop and more often than not I buy at lead tone book. But in this bookshop there is no... More

Stopped in here twice over past week and enjoyed really great coffee. Super range of cakes and other yummy things, just what we needed after walking the dogs.

Friendly staff, great coffee and huge cakes (one between two would be just right). Really quirky wee place that's worth a visit.

This is a wonderful cafe with superb views over Gairloch & out to sea. The cakes are incredible (particularly the Key Lime Pie) & the coffee, in my humble opinion, is the best available in the Gairloch area ... it blows your socks off! There is also a great bookshop attached to the cafe & lots of beautiful postcards &... More

We stopped in to the Mountain Coffee Company for soup and a cake for lunch one day while on our camping trip in Gairloch. From the moment we arrived we were ignored. We stood at the counter waiting for service for nearly ten minutes, during which time, nobody spoke to us, apologised for our wait or asked us to take... More
