Pub grub with good portions

We both had the steak and ale pie, sad beings that we are, as it looked so good and it was. Someone at another table had a tureen of mussels that looked appealing (looked like about a half kilo) which i hadn't noticed when fixated on the steak pie. They also serve one, possibly two real ales and... read more

Visited this unassuming little restaurant on a blustery cold February Sunday 7 th 2016. Was welcomed by a roaring log burner and a full restaurant. The waitress however found us a seat with no hesitation and a pleasant attitude. Ordered the carvers roast. Has to be order by minimum of 2 people and at £12.50 each thought it was rather... More

We came here a family of 4 (all adults) and just had main meals. We of us had burgers and one a beef stew special, with one drink each. The food was all pretty average: frozen chips, un-impressive burgers and fatty beef. We were so shocked when the bill came - £68 for 4 meals and 4 drinks. You might... More

We stayed in Alnmouth over the New Year and visited the Sun Inn several times for both meals and just drinks. Sometimes a village pub can be a bit of a trial at first but not with the Sun Inn, every time we went in the warm, comfortable country pub feeling and a pleasant welcome were to proceed great hand... This was our 4th visit to The Sun Inn.....we reserved a table in the bar area and ended up sitting next to the lovely fire again. This pub has the warmest, cosiest and friendliest atmosphere in all of Alnmouth. The food is fantastic, the chef really knows how to keep customers happy, we've never had a bad meal here yet.... Whilst staying in Alnmouth visited the Sun Inn on a few occasions. It is a dog friendly pub and the staff are very welcoming. Although we did not eat, the meals coming out looked delicious and reasonably priced. Next time we visit will definitely eat there.

Welcomed and seated by the attentive staff. About to order a beer from a relatively small range, when each item was described in detail. Then.... "This is Steak Night, 4 cuts of Steak available and a complementary glass of house wine", nice touch. We had scampi for one and Steak pie for the other. Nicely prepared and presented, but there... Walking along Alnmouth high street on a November lunch time and smelling the wood burning fires welcomes you to enter any establishment but our choice of the sun inn didn't disappoint the summer set chicken my wife had and my steak and ale pie were delicious served speedily and with a smiling face the bottle of Pinot Grigio was probably... What a fantastic and well organised inn. We booked this time for sunday lunch, having previously just sqeezed in front of other booked diners. Great service, excellent food and beer. Don't forget to save room for pudding!! Last time i just missed out on the mango and coconut cheese cake, they had sold out. Not this time, oh no, it... More
