We asked for the quiet part of the dining room, which is where we sat. The choice was good and the service, including banter, was simply great fun. After an excellent meal we had to walk it off - always a good sign!!

We enjoyed a great evening meal at The Sun Inn. The service was excellent, with everyone being friendly and helpful. The bar was well-stocked, the bar staff welcoming. It was very busy on the evening when we ate there, but this did not detract from the speed and efficiency of the service, and the atmosphere was very good. Final good... More

First night in Alnmouth we ate here on recommendation. It was fine, breaded prawn starter more bread than prawn but a nice dipping sauce, loads of juicy cod in main, other main of fishy stew ok but a bit meagre, bottle of wine, service friendly, price very reasonable, 4/5. BUT returned for a drink a couple of nights later having... More

Nice pub. Lots of unusual wood decorations, from candle holders to picture frames. Pleasant young staff. Very relaxed. Simple menu. Baked camembert, crayfish salad, potato wedges. Unexciting Sunday roasts. Good mash and roasties. Al dente carrots. Frozen peas. Nothing to write home about. Could be so much better with a menu revamp.

We had lunch here after a walk on the beach. It isn't going to light any fires in the culinary sense but it is good basic pub grub. Hot, tasty and efficient. Very friendly to dogs which is always good for us and a very pleasant to spend an hour or so in

Liked the big portions and home made taste. Good service. Good for fish. Puddings looked lovely but too full

Had an evening meal here during our stay in Alnwick. Quality food and efficient staff. Also liked the friendly and cosy atmosphere. Good value. Would visit again if in the area.

The food quality excellent. Service was very good but slipped when food was delivered as we were not given cuttery to eat it with (staff very busy with other guests). A bit pricey but given location it was about right; we however could have saved 10% as forgot to say we were staying at The Sandle B&B! One anoying thing... More

We ate at the Sun Inn when we were last in Alnmouth (Nov 2013) so returned again during our recent stay in the village. Atmosphere is lovely.....the driftwood table decorations just make it special....food was delicious and plentiful. Never have we git so much scampi in a restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed this visit and will definitely return if we return to... More

Staying in Alnmouth on holiday we decided we would have Sunday lunch out for a change. The Sun was the second place we looked at which took dogs, bright atmosphere and friendly host, we had two main courses, two deserts and a round of drinks for just over £30, which I thought was excellent value, I even queried the price...
