Good food but don't visit the loo

Called here with my hubby for a bite to eat one evening. Lovely candle lit cosy area to eat ( we initially sat here but we're soon took over by screaming children ) so moved to the large conservatory. We ordered a pizza each and a side of chips and salad .... We were pleasantly surprised when the... read more

We were reluctant to visit this place as it has had so many poor reviews but went following disappointment at the hope and anchor. Very welcoming to both us and our large dog. Beer good extensive pub menu good veggie choice. Food served quickly by friendly staff. We all enjoyed our meal and the dog enjoyed being fed by the... More

Went for a lunch time meal, the place is looking very tired, sat in the conservatory first but the smell of tar (roof repairs) heat & plain decore made us move into the main room. Chose pizza but was told that they had just stopped making them so decided on the £12.95 100% Angus burger with onion rings & chips... More

Food basic bar food. Facilities for a 'family friendly' claim amounted to only a high chair and limited children's menu. We asked about baby change and met with a shrug of shoulders!!! Toilets were disgusting and unacceptable for children and adults to use. We asked for extra cutlery (teaspoon) for toddler to eat. Staff never returned. We would not recommend... More

not too much variety on the menu, for hot meals. the steak pie, chips and mushy peas was what you'd get in a café, and cost £11. a reasonable portion, but pretty bland.

Stopped for lunch on a lovely day and sat outside in the courtyard. There seemed to be one member of staff on duty who was on the bar and serving food but she was doing very well. Overall it was not that busy on a busy day in this tourist village which should have been a clue. The menu was... More

Tasty food but the toilets were somewhat undesirable (less so than you'd expect a toilet to be) Bar staff seemed friendly and helpful.

Visited for a drink during our stay in Alnmouth. It's a bit dark and run down inside, with not a lot of atmosphere and could do with a refurbishment. Drink nice enough, wouldn't visit again as other pubs in village are far better. It's a shame as it's in a great spot.
