We ate here a couple of times at lunch and in the evening. The staff were fine although I would say short staffed.Never saw a manager at all.The food was fine. The toilets needed some money spent as did the whole outside of the building. Its huge, wouldn't like to guess how many covers they could do,but massive compared to the other... More

This is the second time in 2 months I have visited The Schooner. The other pubs in Alnmouth are cosier and better decorated.....that said .....they are also overrated. With a little love and care breathed into The Schooners public areas, the rest would be quaking. Good, honest, consistent, welcoming service and freshly cooked food that is streets ahead in terms... Sorry but I also have to be harsh. From the outside the Schooner inn is very inviting, with its historic white frontage and prime position on Northumberland St. But when you step inside the overriding feeling is “Oh dear”. The internal hotel bar has a dated décor and if I was to say it has a “lived in feel”, that... More

I don't know why people are being so harsh. It's a good pub with friendly staff and good atmosphere. I have always had a good time here. It's a lot more friendly then say the red lion

Very disappointed with the hotel as to what i had read on their website and what i had saw on most haunted, we even stayed in room 28 which was supposed to be the most haunted room in the hotel. by 4am we had give up hope as nothing had happened. plus side staff were friendly and breakfast had a... Visited The Schooner last weekend with no pre conceptions of Hotel/Pub. The Hotel has a prominent place on the main drag in Alnmouth and we were attracted by the reasonably priced menu and the enclosed Courtyard/Beer Garden. Fish and Chips - AMAZING Fish Goujons - MASSIVE, GOOD & NOT REALLY A GOUJON, BUT DELICIOUS Fried Chicken Salad - Moist on... More

Given some of the recent reviews for the food at this hotel (I was staying elsewhere) I was a bit apprehensive. However, I'm in the unfortunate position of being a vegetarian who doesn't like goat's cheese. Alnmouth is a lovely place but most of the restaurants do not cater particularly well for vegetarians and there isn't a lot of choice.... More

The Schooner boasts of being a "haunted" hotel and it's certainly a bit creepy, more due to the decor and state of repair than any visible ghosts. Average food average service and in much need of decorating and modernisation.

We had a lovely Indian meal while visiting Alnmouth last year & decided we would go back this year, unfortunately the Indian had closed & the menu they had didn't appeal to us. We had a drink & a few games of pool. The Hotel is dog friendly but looked dated & tired with not much atmosphere or clientele.

We have been in Alnmouth for a week & decided on our last night to get take away fish & chips from the Schooner. I have never been so disappointed. They were the worst fish & chips I have ever had! Very small piece of fish, in horrible soggy batter with chips that were barely cooked, they were white &... More
