What a relief after the disaster at The Hope and Anchor! The service was excellent and the quality of the food was top class. All four of us totally enjoyed the evening whether we were eating the seafood or the meat. The menu is not extensive but does not need to be provided it is good quality and cooked perfectly.... More

A local artist had displayed their work around the bistro, really lovely touch and very talented. Slightly expensive but well presented and tasty food .Lovely just to sit and watch the world go by whilst eating .

Staying in Alnmouth on holiday we had walked up the Main Street a couple of times and spotted this place, being attracted by the sea food evening every Thursday, we booked a table. Having read the other TA reviews I was expecting a lot and as far as the food went I was not disappointed although the prices were top... More

Excellent hosts, lovely little restaurant and great atmosphere. I had sea food platter and my wife fig salad, both were good althouth the mozzarella cheese was a bit tasteless and would have been improved with a goats cheese. I had lobster thermidor and my wife a blue cheese dish. She said it was nice not to be taken as a... More

Not the poshest, but certainly the friendliest/most ambient of the excellent foodie places that pepper the Northumbrian coast. There were clearly a number of return clients & locals eating. So booking is a must. The half-lobster starter was fun - though, perhaps - a tad chewy. The slow cooked beef, red cabbage & mushrooms was simply superb. The meringue/caramel &... More

We went for a meal for two. It was nice but we expected a bit more. The meals were nice and well cooked but let down by two points - both fixable. We do not expect to get the wing bone of the chicken on the plate, it should have been left in the kitchen. Secondly, the bread came with... More

I am glad that I booked, Bistro 23 is very popular. The table arrangements provide for a good degree of privacy for diners making the most of the space. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, keen to hear our views on the dining experience and happy to make recommendations for future dining during our brief holiday. The menu really hits... More

An amazing meal, wonderful hosts -great atmosphere and great company. We booked the meal for my dad's 88th and since mum only died the month before we wanted it to be special yet not too overwhelming. A perfect balance was achieved, thanks to Alistair and Anna again fir a great night, x x Ali

For 13 of us spending a week with our MG car club, this was our last night in Alnmouth and we wished we had visited Bistro 23 earlier. The restaurant was full (vital to pre-book) but staff were attentive and friendly, service was prompt and always with a smile. All the food was well presented, nicely cooked and hot where... More

Having had to put up with overpriced, badly served, and poor value food in the Alnmouth area it was a pleasant surprise to come here and be welcomed like 'CUSTOMERS' not somebody who was a hindrance!! The restaurant only opens on Wednesday, Saturday for their standard menu and Thursday for their Seafood speciality menu. It is most wise to book... More
