Great pub in Alnmouth

Favourite pub in Alnmouth. Excellent atmosphere in the bar. Often busy with locals and local dogs. Lovely warming fire. Beer is really well kept, and there's always a good variety of real ales (and often some interesting lagers). The food is particularly excellent. Really hearty portion... read more

Favourite pub in Alnmouth. Excellent atmosphere in the bar. Often busy with locals and local dogs. Lovely warming fire. Beer is really well kept, and there's always a good variety of real ales (and often some interesting lagers). The food is particularly excellent. Really hearty portion sizes. Much much better than normal 'pub grub', but never lah-di-dah: they get the... More

You have to reserve a table in advance but well worth it. Their Sunday lunch is one of the nicest I have ever had and at a very reasonable rate. the Northumbrian beef was delicious and their Yorkshire puddings was one of the nicest I have had. The ambience is relaxed and comfortable. A delightful little find. Have a walk... More

My wife and I went for lunch and on the strength of that we decided to book into the restaurant the following evening. This is by far one of the best meals we have had in a long time, we have a top ten list of our favourite meals and this went straight into the top five. If ever visiting... More

Visiting Newton-by-the-Sea for the weekend from Leeds, we decided this would be a good stop off to feed our 13 month old son. Firstly the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff was great, very keen to help. They heated the baby food and there was a high chair to use. It was stormy outside, but both rooms had a fire... Called in for lunch at the ' Red Lion ' with a group of friends after a walk along the nearby coastal path. It had been a chilly, blustery January morning but the ' Red Lion ' soon warmed us up with its hospitality. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bar was cosy with a real fire and... More

We ordered home-made steak pie for the menfolk, and the ladies had liver with bacon, onion gravy and smooth tasty mash. Both dishes were full of flavour and beautifully presented. Also very good value for money in a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.

We fancied a walk at the beach as it was one of the first fine days in weeks. We enjoyed a tasty sandwich each, mine was tasty ham (not the square plastic type) with a good cheese, tasty finely grated creamy coleslaw and fresh lettuce of different leaves. The beer was Black Sheep (Masham) and well kept by the taste... More

Hubby & I went to the Red Lion for an evening meal. A small very pleasant bar with a lovely atmosphere. A good selection was found on the short but impressive menu. We didn't have a starter but plumped for a main course hoping to have room for a dessert. I had the steak and ale pie with hand cut... More

We called for Sunday lunch, and it was fabulous. Tiny little restaurant with a wood burning stove; very cosy and the food was wonderful

Having planned a nice night away with my wife disappointed to arrive at the Red Lion to find scaffolding outside. When shown to our room we were warned that there were still painting fumes from the recent repainting. We refused to stay and were willingly refunded our money. Why weren't we warned of this in advance?why weren't we offered assistance in finding alternative...
