We had heard how great this pub was before arriving for our holiday. They have very good feedback from friends that have already stayed in the town. We loved the friendly atmosphere and cosy environment. It's just as snug as your front room we could have stayed there all night. The service was just what you would expect from a... More

We visited the RL on a few occasions during our week stay. As a pub I love it. The beer in winter is fab, tempest, dark porter, log fire with my wife and Bella excellent nights out. Service good bit pricey at £3.50 a pint but not grumbling. We had sandwiches and chips to eat following long walk. Food ok,... More

Been in here before for drinks but we decided to go with family for a bit of lunch. The pub itself is very cosy, with a fire and all the usual trappings of a nice old, country pub. It is also dog-friendly! I ordered the Melted cheese and ham on brioche with chips, and the rest went for the beef... More

First morning of our stay in alnmouth we had breakfast here. Ate it in the bar next to a real fire and it was everything you'd expect from a good full English breakfast, the staff were friendly and we had a chat while waiting for the food. Set us up for a days walking. Later that week we came for... More

We only popped in for a coffee but stayed a good couple of hours - lovely service and a warm comfy bar area with 2 real fires.

on a list of dog friendly pubs, we visited yesterday evening with our dog. We were all made to feel very welcome by the locals. We had dinner in the bar, liver and bacon and steak and ale pie. Large portions of well cooked food, piping hot with a good selection of perfectly done vegetables. We couldn't manage a pudding.... More

Had a lovely lamb Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. You won't leave feeling hungry that's for sure. Nice selection of real ales as well.

You need to book to ensure a restaurant table and so more elbow room than in the bar. Choice for Sunday lunch is very good would recommend the trio of meats. Good selection of cask beers.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at The Red Lion. The bar provided a good selection of beers; lagers and ciders. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and it was very busy while we were there. Very important point is that The Red Lion is dog-friendly. Thoroughly recommend it.
