Lion Highs!!

Third time lucky in downtown Alnmouth following almost-undrinkable beer and little cheer in two other local establishments. The Red Lion was the perfect antidote. Ate a late lunch here in May with 4 adults and 4 kids under 5. They were friendly and helpful with kids, for high chairs right away, and adapted menu choices when requested. Food was yummy, not too pricey, service was speedy and the dining room is very sweet so surroundings were lovely. Only comment is that it was a... More

Gets busy so must be good! We had to wait a while for a table but that was understandable and no problem as we had a drink in the bar while we waited. The waiter was very friendly and efficient.

Just finished our 10 day stint up in the beautiful Northumberland and I was as pleased as ever, I cannot get enough of the place! We went to the Red Lion for the first time, as we had spent a day running around the beach with the children and what a place! Absolutely amazing! Cannot recommend enough, the food and... More

Ate at the Red Lion on both nights of our stay in Alnmouth recently. The staff are fantastic and a warm welcome awaits. The food was of a really high standard (hence the reason we went back on the second night). We just couldn't fault the food, quality ingredients, freshly cooked and good sized portions. Give this place a go... More

Had a great meal with my daughter and grandchildren. My daughter had the sea bream and chips, which she said was delicious - I had the locally produced pork sausages with onion gravy, baby onions and mash, which was absolutely delicious, especially the onion gravy, which my grandchildren insisted on dipping their chips and and was wolfed down. The beers... More

had a meal here last week. Nice traditional pub. Nice food and friendly staff. Filled up soon after we arrived so very popular. I had the steak strips in a mushroom sauce which was the special of that day. I was lucky as I had the last one.

A true atmosphere created in the bar area & the food was far better than I expected. Well presented good quality & a lot better than many pretentious restaurants. Pork with root vegetables & the sticky toffee pudding are worth going back for & not that expensive. Good beers etc available too!

Can't comment on the accommodation as we stayed elsewhere, but we ate here twice and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
