The pub does not take bookings, but clearly doesn't need to! The food was excellent and enjoyed by all the party two adults and two teenagers. The service was friendly and efficient. My husband and I both ordered liver and bacon which was delicious. Bar not very big but full and very atmospheric. Would agree with the previous reviewer that... More

After an auful meal at the Sun Inn just up the road we decided to try The Red Lion for an evening meal. What a difference - The food and the service were excellent. So much so we dined there 3 times in the week we stayed in Alnmouth and everthing was perfect on each occassion. The only fault i... More

Didn't eat as couldn't book a table in restaurant. Struggled to get a table in bar as popular and busy. Good atmosphere in bar, packed with people and dogs!!

Lovely cosy pub with a real fire. Good menu, serving good tasty meals & wine. The pub is situated on the main street in Alnmouth & handy for a refreshing drink after a long walk.

Alnmouth is a beautiful spot on the north east coast. Even as a non-driver it is well situated for exploring the coast of Northumberland, with a train station on the main north/south line just outside the village, and bus services up and down the coast running every hour. This was the second time I had stopped at the Red Lion,... More

Busy noisy and excellent. Ate in the bar as no room in restaurant 28/3/14. Large hot crispy pork crackling starter with ok dip. Coley & chips big portions, well cooked - v.good! Medium beefburger just cooked thru & handmade. No complaint apart from fat chips (v.personal taste). Steak & ale pie good & slow cooked chicken large & tasty. Only... More

Most delicious roast beef dinner expertly cooked and well presented. friendly service. Very popular venue so getting a seat is a bit of pot luck but worth the effort. £15.90 for 2 lunches and 2 pints. good value.

We usually have an excellent Sunday lunch here but called in just to have a quick sandwich and cuppa while passing through the village. Ordered 'tuna mayo' which consisted of 2 slices of brown bread with tuna/mayo filling, a few lettuce leaves and a spoonful of coleslaw. Price £6.95!!! I expected more for the price. For two rounds of sandwiches... More

My boyfriend and I visited this pub for my birthday and made the, probably unusal, request of two shots of tequila to celebrate. The barman working seemed to think there was some in the back and promptly returned with a full bottle. He then proceeded to pour us two shots and present them on a wooden board with lemon and...
