I meet up with friends on a regular basis and we have lunch together in locations all over Northumberland. We decided on visiting The Red Lion at Alnmouth yesterday and we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food we were served. We have eaten there several times before and have always been satisfied. The lunchtime menu is now... More

We always eat in the beer garden if the weather is clemment, otherwise in the lower bar. The beer has always been good. Food varies a little but fine. Last time we had beef and Stilton sandwiches, not sure about the bread buns, more like sticky buns! The views from the veranda in the beer garden over the river are... More

Seriously rude bar maid .Every time she walked past me and my partner she gave us very nasty glares for no reason at all, which made us feel very un comfortable and put us off our drinks. No need for it at all. We swiftly drank our drinks and moved on to the sun inn which is friendlier Such a lovely... More

We had pre-booked a reservation for 12 cyclists and two support staff for our charity bike ride from Newcastle to Edinburgh. The food was excellent with good size portions and the staff were very hospitable with nothing too much trouble. They really looked after us during our Lunch stop. Thanks to Nick and the rest of the staff that made... More

Went back for my third or fourth visit. We found this place a few years ago on a chance visit looking for a coastal walk. We've eaten here every time, the garden is great in the summer and in the colder months the bar has a warm and welcoming feel. The food has always been good, plentiful portions to set... More

We stayed a couple of nights in Alnmouth (not at the Red Lion) on a bed and breakfast basis, and on the first night tried the Red Lion. We were a little doubtful initially when we entered the bar and chose a table, until we realised there is a seperate restaurant area. We happily settled in there, and it quite... More

Pleasant staff, warm atmosphere and great welcome. Food is very good, especially for those with big appetites. Crab sandwiches very tasty. It is better to book to ensure a table as it gets very busy.

Had lunch here twice and dinner once. Very efficient service. Crab sandwiches, if you get there early enough. Real ale which pleased us. Free wifi as a bonus. Highly recommended.

Managed to get a table after failing on a previous visit to the area. You can't book so a wait at peak times should be expected but well worth the wait. We (party of 4)were seated at 6.45pm and by 8pm the restaurant was full. The service was friendly , menu limited but food freshly cooked and tasty and ambience... More

We visited a few times for drinks this week in June, and once to eat. Very nice little pub, friendly service and a great beer garden - with nice views of the estuary from the decking. We both had the steak and ale pie, with good chips and very good mushy peas. The beers are good and the wine is... More
