We enjoyed a lovely meal at The Red Lion. The bar provided a good selection of beers; lagers and ciders. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and it was very busy while we were there. Very important point is that The Red Lion is dog-friendly. Thoroughly recommend it.

Dining here you can either eat in the bar or there is an excellent restaurant, both of which have great food. The chowder is an excellent choice but there is a good variety on the menu. They also serve a traditional English breakfast or kippers, freshly cooked, which was delicious.

As regular visitors to Alnmouth The Red Lion is a regular stop-off both after a long afternoon's walking or, for a few drinks at night. Our starters of pate and roast vegetables were quite delightfully presented, in a style and quality more reminiscent of top-end restaurants than a country pub. Sadly, they've gone a step too far in thinking that a bit of roof slate can make an acceptable dining plate - it really can't! However, the food itself was delicious. Our main courses of... More

Ate here after seeing the good reviews. Asked if roast beef was well done (this was for Sunday lunch), and was told it was just reheated to order. Asked if it came with roast potatoes, was told it did. Well, we did get half of one each, the other veg being mash, swede? and watery cabbage. It was all rather... More

The exceptional weather brought us to Alnmouth. After our stroll and scramble up a cliff (!) hunger set in and we decided to try the lunch at the Red Lion Inn. So had many, many more. We had a long wait for the food but when it came the wait was worthwhile. We both ordered the Ingram Valley Leg of... More

We ate here on Friday evening and had a wonderful meal. We arrived early at six and had a drink in the bar and then went into the lovely dining room. I understand you can only reserve a table if you are a guest, however by 7.00 the place was full so that paid off. We found the staff to... More

We'd been away on hol and were craving some 'proper' pub food! Had steak and ale pie with mushy peas and chips. Delicious. Lovely real ales on offer too.

After a days walking we called in here for a drink and meal. There was a good choice of real ales which where very well kept. The food was very nice My friend and I had the fish and chips with another friend having the burger. We all commented on how tasty the food was.

Friendly and welcoming pub with a good choice of real ales and a very pleasing menu. Really enjoyed our meal especially the home made burgers and chips. Would recommend that you arrive before 7.30 as there is no booking and it starts to get really busy about then.
