Lovely steak. Good value

We were just in time to order our meal at 9pm. After a long journey (I had been driving for 4 & half hours) we were directed here by the night porter at the hotel/motel we were staying at which was in sight of this pub. We had a lovely starter & mains with coffee. The service was good &... read more

Nice homely pub food excellent service not to bad mistake made leaving one of the party to eat 12 minutes after everyone else had started leaving a bit of a uncomfortable atmosphere .only limited deserts left after eating main meal.

Thank you for your review and we welcome the opportunity to offer our response! We can only apologise again for the 'ordering error' that caused the delay to one member of your party, resulting in them having to wait a further 12 minutes before their choice from the menu could be served. We fully appreciate how disconcerting it can be... More

Been here several times, always been top notch! Had evening meals and a breakfast here, always been excellent. It does get busy so it might be worth ringing first. Great meals, great service! Oh, and the beer is really good too! Well worth a visit!

A disappointingly bland meal reminiscent of a 1970s pub menu. Burgers and tasteless chips were about the most on offer. I had ham, egg and cips, another old staple, but the ham was past it's best, chips clearly from the freezer and all in all very bland. The atmosphere in the empty pub was flat and it appears we went... More

With good food reviews and inclusion in the Good Beer Guide, the Wheatsheaf seemed like the ideal lunchtime refreshment stop on a long-distance cycle ride. We weren't disappointed ...... a warm welcome, cold beer and great food in plentiful supply from an interesting menu and specials board with dishes to appeal to most people.
