Tate's is an institution when it comes to Boston! Situated in the heart of Strait Bargate in the heart of the town centre you will smell it before you see it, and it will be that irresistible smell that will draw you in! There is both takeaway food and restaurant served food available over two floors, with the downstairs being... More

It is what it is, a very British fish and chip shop. Complete with plastic tablecloths, cafe curtains, wooden chairs and tables and piping hot mugs of tea with fried fish and chips. A bit on the pricey side for me, but the waitresses are friendly, and the service isn't slow.

Not as good as they used to be! I still thoroughly enjoy their chips though. Proper fish and chips in the center of town, you cannot go wrong.

Over the years Tates has become something of an institution in the Boston area. It is i think the last remaining traditional fish & chip restaurant in Boston & seen many others close down over the years. Boston used to be a thriving market & cattle market town back in the fifties & sixties & supported many fish & chip... More

A friend of mine at a local tattoo shop in town recommended this place. I had chicken & salad and my man had salmon & chips (the owner threw in a piece of cod). Very good place. Cute building.

We've been visiting Boston every year for the last seven years and our visit to Tates was always high on our list of palces to go. However, this year it was just not quite as good as it has been in the past. The fish was a steak instead of the usual fillet and somehow it just didn't hit the... More

It would be wrong to say that any fish and chips is the best meal I've ever had in my life but - best fish and chips in town! It's not somewhere you would go for a wedding breakfast - just fish and chips at their best.
