We have been to this place a number of times previously and everything was first class. However, things just weren't right and up to the standards we have come to expect on this occasion. Here's why ... Table booked for 8 - made to wait in reception area and seated at 8.25 - no apology Pigs cheek starter - significantly... More

Went with my friend for a meal and catch up. This was the first time we had been to the new location. We both had chicken Caesar salad to start and the croutons were inedible (like bricks). We had different mains ( salmon & black bream) and they were both delicious. For dessert we both had apple & cinnamon tart,... More

We had heard good things about Ascough's so decided to check it out. We had to wait about 4 weeks to get in, which is always a good sign. The restaurant is nice and central and very close to a large convenient car park. We were pleasantly surprised just how big the place is. It is very tastefully decorated with... More

We'd received a gift voucher for Christmas for Ascough's. Had to wait a while to get in, but it was well worth the wait. Tasteful decor throughout, and excellent service by friendly staff. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Not overly expensive either, perhaps as we opted for one of the 3 course options. The wine wasn't ridiculously priced... More

There is not a lot I can say about Ascough’s that hasn’t already been said but I’ll go ahead anyway. My wife and I chose this bistro/restaurant based on the favourable tripadvisor reviews and the description of the menu on the website. I’m glad we did as we had a fantastic meal. I’m going to start by saying that ThisisChrisO’s... More

This restaurant moved to this larger site about a year ago (following a fire) – the new location is very smart and well planned, with good quality and comfortable furnishings, which are well spaced to avoid crowding. Four of us had lunch here recently - the menu had a good selection of dishes – all of them were tempting. Three... More

This was my first visit, although not for my guest. A range of options which challenged a decision as they all sounded delicious. Not at all disappointed and together with very friendly staff this was a lovely experience. Would love to come back again.

First impressions matter. Here first impressions were not good. Having booked for lunch we did not expect to end up in a queue. While it may be a technique to encourage you to start off with a few drinks, if that is not part of the customers plan then why ask them to sit and wait in the "lounge" (i.e.... More
