William's excellence continues under new ownership.

I was thrilled, but not surprised, to see this Cotswold gem featured in the Sunday Times yesterday. My daughter, who works for a major supplier to the food industry, insists on a restaurant meal (including oysters!), when she comes to visit - such is her opinion of William's. Went here in a party of 10 on Friday evening. Very relaxed atmosphere, really varied menu (I don't like fish and this is a seafood restaurant but they had a number of different options for me). Really good wine list; from the reasonable to the very posh. I had a tartlet starter which was delicious followed by one of the... More

We had lunch with two friends from London, we've all been fans of Williams for years, but had heard he'd retired and the place is under new management. We could not have been made more welcome by Sue who helped us choose some wine and seated us at the Oyster Bar to peruse the menu. We had a fabulous lunch,... More

The fish and chips here is something special - far better than at the five star hotel where I ordered it last week! You cannot book here so first come first served but from simply cooked delicious fish dishes to luxurious lobsters and scallops all are superbly cooked and served by friendly staff.

Bought a fabulous huge brill on Saturday. You just can't get this type of produce anywhere else for miles. Fresh in that day. It tasted delicious with a homemade parmesan crumb coating. My folks who were down for the weekend were blown away. Expertly filleted. As usual eyes bigger than stomach meant I ate far too much. Always top quality... More

I don't like fish normally, but it was stunning here. Lovely Halibut and Skate cooked to perfection and oysters were huge!Lovely service by all and really nice wine. Nice to speak to the new owner and wish her well in this venture. Great team behind her and a gorgeous building. Highly recommend it, my only desire is to see them... More

Friday's fish on sale on Wednesday ? And the slab doesn't look as great as it did under the original owner, William, even on Saturday. Looking at the bottom line only will see regular customers leaving. I won't be shopping mid-week as you can see fish like this in the supermarkets.

We went there for our anniversary lunch. Overall the service was good but unfortunately the food did let it down a bit. Despite being a primarily a seafood restaurant they had Veal on the menu which my husband ordered as a main, the meat arrived "blue" and it would have been nice to be asked how he liked his meat... Have visited numerous times over the years and have always found it an excellent place to eat, plus the opportunity to buy something from the deli afterwards. This was my first visit since the new owners have taken over from William. Food was mostly up to standard, the service was a bit lacking. The tall jolly waitress took our order... More
