Great food, beautiful garden, slow service

We stopped at the Wheatsheaf Inn whilst on a road trip, without having booked a table. The restaurant was very busy, but we managed to get a table in the garden. It was a gorgeous day and the garden was very pretty, the tables were clean. However, though the waiters were friendly, the service was... read more

A superb venue to meet and socialise. Before settling down we had a little wander around this charming village and awesome (is it a cathedral?) church. I had the calves liver (cooked perfectly) with a portion of chips and it was very good indeed. The portion of chips was extremely generous and complemented the dish beautifully. Gorgeous sunny garden with... More

Came here by recommendations from our B&B hostess. But was let down both by food and service. My partner had calves liver wich was OK, not more. Too many different garnishes that did‘nt blend well. I had pork and scallops. Pork was over cooked and very tough. Tasted as an old boar. Dull seasoning. Wine and beer arrived when we... More

Our meals were delicious, service was fantastic. Understated lovely decor. & a complimentary glass of wine for my partners birthday. All perfect! Can't wait to return.

A drizzly day for Sunday Lunch was not one for the garden but inside one could study the service and ambiance a little better. Beer at £3.50 a pint and wine a complete rip off! The wine list ran to 20 pages, how pretentious for a pub albeit a gastro pub. Consequent upon having to hold such large stocks there... More

My wife, Sue has been pestering me to visit this hotel for a while, I went there in 1980 with a pretentious mate from uni and did not enjoy it, hence the neg. vibes. How wrong can you be over 35 years?! Minor things lovely cottage garden, nice private table, lots of friendly staff young and keen. Dogs welcome especially... More

We booked a table for a party of six plus advising we had a baby in a buggy. On the latter arrangements, the staff picked a nice table with room for our grandson who - contrary to routine - did not sleep unfortunately, but luckily no problems The food we chose was, without exception, very good indeed. This included crab... More

Two of us arrived for Sunday lunch and were shown to table inside (the garden was full). After 10 minutes nothing had happened except two staff were noisily discussing how to arrange nearby tables, which were never in fact used. So I asked if we could order some drinks which took another 5 minutes to arrive. Eventually we were invited... More

To be honest I didn't dislike anything about this restaurant apart from the prices maybe although it was what I expected from a gastro pub in the Cotswolds. I had a realy good cider to drink and my apple crumble was delicious! I would definitely come back and definitely recommend
