Very nice food, a bit expensive

Good menu, good value 2and 3 course options if you want to eat a lot. Very polite staff and linen (tea towel) napkins. A bit more expensive than your average pub, but nice.

Great pub with great food and beer. Beautiful garden and courtyard which is well worth the visit in the sunshine. The food is excellent, with a side bar/restaurant off the courtyard where you can watch your food being cooked, which is pretty cool. Beer isn't expensive for the cotswolds, paying £3.50 a pint. Well worth a visit, child and dog... More

Having managed to send the children off with nanny we decided to pop in for lunch, the pigeon saltimboca was stunning as was the asparagus, then came the rump of lamb with radicchio and olives very accomplished and the big test was the risotto which we are both particularly fussy about but it ticked all the boxes as did the... If you're into chipped china and run down furniture, this is the place for you. Clearly their interior designer was given the smallest budget possible and he certainly didn't overspend. On the other hand the food takes some beating. The Devilled Kidneys are worth a good detour in themselves. Parking can be a problem for the infirm. There's plenty of... More

My wife and I visited the Bell & Cross last year and just got round to writing the review it so richly deserves. Previously voted Gloucestershire dining pub of the Year, this place really is a little gem, with a charming interior, the food was just delicious. The staff were efficient and friendly and although a food destination, a lovely... More

Last Sunday we were celebrating my Birthday, and we were looked after well right from the start...great bar area, but get there early, as gets very busy. We had young grand children in our party, and their menu was just right. We couldn't fault our food either, and I had the beef which was just how I like it. We... More

Our first night dining here was superb. Amazing devilled kidneys, followed by a simple but perfect venison loin. A lovely wine recommended by our super enthusiastic server. Pricey but awesome! Our second night was frankly shoddy to say the least. My starter of beef carpaccio was dull and my main of steak was over cooked (I asked for it m/rare)... More

We had dinner at The Wheatsheaf on a busy Saturday evening. The atmosphere was great and the service professional but friendly. The food was delicious and excellent value for the quality at around £30 per head for three delicious courses. I would heartily recommend this delightful pub.

We had already booked to have lunch here when we saw a review by Giles Coren in The Times magazine. He gave the restaurant a high score - no mean achievement coming from him. The food lived up to expectations. They do a fixed price menu during the week if you do not want to eat from the main menu... More

Loved the interior of this cozy and well maintained eatery located in a picture postcard village. Food of a high quality and service attentive but as it got busier started to waiver a little. We had early dinner with Steaks, fish and chips for the children and great puddings rounded off an enjoyable meal. It's not cheap so don't go... More
