My husband booked this for my birthday lunch. We had a fabulous meal - all 3 courses were delicious. The staff were friendly yet professional and even gave me a few birthday treats which were a wonderful touch. I think the meal was fairly priced unlike some of the other comments. Will be definitely going back! Thank you Wheatsheaf!

A warm friendly comfy pub. Sunday lunch and the rib of beef - delicious. Try the best soufflet on the planet - twice cooked with Chedder. The Marathon dessert is a chocoholics dream....all with great beer Doombar..

We went to this restaurant whilst holidaying nearby for an evening meal and were very pleased by the quality of the food, which was very high, but the service left a little to be desired and the price for basically a pub was almost as high as the quality of the food!! We were shown to our table and it... More

We've been here several times as the food is good but today they were busy and the service was slow and poor. It just really upsets me when a 10% service charge is automatically added to the bill with not even a thank you or optional mention.

Pluses: Friendly staff Very good good, especially the sole and the wild boar pasta dish. Good ambience, even though we were in what we thought was the pub side of the Wheatsheaf. Had booked the restaurant. Not so plus: Muzak. Who actually likes Muzak? We asked for it to be turned down, it was off for 10 minutes, and I... More

Found this restaurant in the Michelin Good Pub Guide. I am sure that there are many similar good food pubs not in the guide. Food and ambiance good but not particularly special. Found the general acoustics rather noisy not helped by the 'Muzak' being played, Car parking limited especially on a busy Friday so had to back in the rather... More

Quality of ingredients were good but the food was generally bland and lacking inspiration. 2 of our 4 dishes were plain cooked meat laid on top of roughly chopped vegetables. Lacking good flavour or culinary skill. If you were served this food in a basic pub you would not complain. However you can have high quality dining elsewhere for these... More

This was a celebration dinner with my 80 year old mother in law and our family including kids aged 10 and 13. Overall I would say that the experience was ok to good, not stellar. The waiter got off to a bit of a bad start by offering us aperitifs "whilst we chose from the menu" which we ordered (blood... More
