Good Value

A spacious and friendly café. Light and clean. Caters well for families and children also a place to spend time with friends over coffee and cake. Lovely homemade cakes sandwiches and quiches. Could have done with going back to try more of the tempting menu. And of course all the Tiptree quality... read more

We visited this lovely little café/restaurant/coffee shop & Tiptree outlet last Sunday. We ate their delicious ham, egg and chunky chips, coffee, tea and a slice of Victoria sponge cake, all of which was excellent. We were served quickly and efficiently by the staff. Also we purchased some of the lovely Tiptree goods. Although the selection of jams and sauces... More

We've been to the tea room at Tiptree which is very busy (often queues) so were drawn into this place. The front of house staff were nonchalant - there is a "please wait to be seated" sign which we stood by (being British) then had to check if one of the 20 tables were free. The first 3 we sat... A very friendly cafe with attentive and helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble. I had my favourite cheese scone - delicious as always - nicely warm with grated mature cheddar on the side - my idea of heaven ! I have also had Eggs Benedict and cake - not on the same day !! Well worth a visit... More

We had lunch in the Courtyard Tea Rooms Saffron Walden whilst visiting this interesting town for the day. Very helpful staff who made us feel welcome and valued as customers. A good variety of lunches including jacket potatoes, sandwiches and cakes. Tucked away off passageways near to the main square it was a good find and a place we will... More

We sat outside on a very sunny day. My mature cheddar ploughman's was fantastic. All the food is locally sourced and tasted great, all the staff were friendly. As for other reviews mentioning the price the quality of the food easily out weighed the cost. We will be returning.

When visiting Saffron Walden you will pass beside the place on your way from the city car park towards the city centre. We had lunch at this place, the quality, quantity and taste of our sandwiches and soup was good and fresh, the also sell some rather rare english ales. The price of all this was rather high for a... I have previously visited this restaurant and have enjoyed the food, but have not been overly happy with the customer service of late since it has been taken over by Tiptree. Today was a lovely day in our town and there was a lot of people about, wanting something to eat I decided to pop in here for a quick... More

My husband and I went in here today for a quick lunch. We wanted soup so didn't look at the menu. The stilton and brocalli soup was delisihious But we got a shock when we paid the bill as the cost was £10.50 that is a whopping £5.25 each bowl of soup. We have never paid this much for soup... More
