Very good food with a good fish selection as a bonus. The service is understated and professional and the atmosphere relaxed and unstuffy. I live nearby and have never had anything but a good experience there.

This was my first visit here but I hope when I return to the area I get another chance to sample the menu. The food and service were excellent, My husband raved about the Turbot with the vanilla pear and my duck with plum and star anise sauce was every bit as good. We have family in the area and... More

Always a wonderful experience. We only live a few miles from here. Never had a bad meal. Even on a busy Saturday night or Sunday lunch staff always very attentive. A joy to visit!

This was our first visit here, we are a party of 2 adults and 2 children (12&9). Pre-booking a table is essential as it appears to get very busy. First impressions where excellent. The building is stunning and very olde. On arrival you are confronted with Jamie Oliver signed booked for sale at £16.50 each. I did not mind this... More

I liked the place and on a Thursday evening in March they had lots of reserved tables so it must be popular despite banging my head on the beam at the bar (it was padded so I think this is something that has happened before) I liked the place but was unsure if I was in a restaurant or a... More

Went for Sunday roast, got very fatty beef, burnt yorkshires, cold gravy and half a dish of roast potatoes between five people! The waitresses were more interested in having a conversation than serving, one starter got forgotten, no one came to ask if everything was ok, the soft drinks tasted very watery, poor choice for vegetarians, nothing for vegans except... My friend and I visited in the new year and the restaurant was fairly busy. We ordered two glasses of prosecco however were told this was out of stock so had to order wine. The service was quite quick but the food very slow to arrive and our bread was not refilled while we were waiting. The food was lovely... More

Went for what we thought would be a pleasant Sunday lunch. Ordered whitebait starter which was full of bones and guts. The duck salad starter was average. The roast beef lunch was disappointing to say the least. The roast beef was 50% fat. Of course we do understand that premium beef joints tend to half more fat, but I don't... More

This had been on our list to try for a while now and today we had the chance. The English Plank had caught my eye on the website's menu for a few months now and now at last I could order it. We also ordered the lamb kofta kebabs, pie and deep fried haddock. Both starters where excellent, the koftas... More
