Went here for a birthday meal as hadn't been here in a while due to it being inferior to other pubs in the local area. We thought we would give it another go but sadly, it still has some work to do to be up to scratch with some of the other local treats. We arrived, were instantly shown to... More

We came here for my birthday as we live in Arkesden and it's just up the road. We used to come regularly but service was getting slow and hit and miss so we hadn't been for a couple of years. Sadly still slow service even though the restaurant was pretty empty.

Stopped on the way back. Landlady or mature lady in charge who was serving was very rude towards our group. Ill planning. No one will come back which is a shame as any of us cycle past all the time. Shame.

Had a special 3 course meal there mid week with my partner. Lovely atmosphere, great staff but the food ranged from really good to terrible with little in between. Entrée was superb, new potatoes and chips worst we have ordered anywhere - chips were barely cooked inside yet almost burnt out the outside & new potatoes were just plain boiled... More

Pros: - intimate restaurant where the staff to customer ration is great (punctual service) - great amounts of food (good value) - head waitress 'Glenda' is the star show- top host! - food is made to order (fresh) Cons: - bar area (where you can get a table) is great, however service can be a little slow in this area.... ...a number of friends had rated this place... and to some extent, I'd really expected something special... but it wasn't... Our party of four were seated in the front of the 'pub' near the piano, and on a Sunday lunchtime. To begin, I will say the 'live' piano playing was pleasant, and gave a nice atmosphere. Service was rather aloof.... More

We went yesterday for some lunch and we had a lovely meal. This was our second visit and so far I can't complain about either. Nice fresh food. I can normally manage to chose just a few things I would like on a restaurant menu but at The Cricketers I can't make up my mind as it all looks appetising... More

We have always liked this place but supper on Sunday night was not up to standard and I felt a bit ripped off . We paid £85 for 2 with 2 small glasses of wine. The whole place had a tired end of a long weekend feel about it which is fine ... But it wasn't worth the money or... More
