We had a lovely evening meal, starter, main and pud all reasonably priced and we stayed for one night in The Boot room and a Stables room. The breakfast, full English of course, was gorgeous. Service was excellent, pub has a lovely bar and different seating areas. My only negative was that the fire needed to be tended, you could... More

I had not eaten here for some time but my fiancée really fancied going. Last time (a few years ago) was a bit of a disaster having waited about 45 minutes for starters and then another 30 minutes between courses, which I did not think was particularly nice and was not even acknowledged as a problem. The menu is pretty... More

This lovely pub is well worth a visit, for anyone looking for that idyllic pub experience in a perfect setting. The staff are charming, the chef is very talented and the prices are reasonable considering the high standard of presentation, food and overall experience. This is probably my favourite pub in the UK, I cannot fault it. Booking is essential.... More

Great menu mixed with traditional fayre and modern tastes. Excellent food served by friendly and chatty staff. A memorable evening. Thanks.

My wife and I have just returned from a night away at The Museum, which we do occasionally. This was one of the very best in all aspects. We both had squid to start, followed by confit of duck for my wife and partridge for me.....both were as good as it gets. Nice atmosphere, good beers and wines . A... More

Arrived to find entrance blocked by staff member conversing with another who was outside. We stood holding our bags until they stopped & then waited at an empty reception. Eventually shown to the Chase room which was so cold & dark that we took refuge in the guest lounge only to find a member of staff watching a programme on... More

We went to have a quick early evening meal last night on the way back from a great trip to the coast in Dorset. Great food and nice relaxed atmosphere. We plan to go back.

We found this pub through the Sawday's pub app and it is fantastic, I just wish we lived closer. The food was great, the beers were good and the service was friendly and helpful.

Heading down the B3081, we decided to try the Museum as an alternative to, what we find slightly pretentious, The King John at Tollard Royal. What a great find. Great service, good food and excellent ambience.
