The Penny Black is hidden around the back of the Post Office, and you have to walk through the Antiques Emporium to find but it's well worthwhile the effort. The menu is quite small but this is a good thing. They concentrate on serving simple meals (sandwiches paninis jacket potatoes etc) at a very reasonable price and they are simply... More

Popped in for a cuppa & a cream teas. Fruit scones to die for and plenty of jam and cream to go around. Staff are friendly and welcoming. This place is tucked away at the back of the post office but well worth going looking for it.

On our way back to the car park at the top of the town, we stopped for a cup of tea in this truly delightful cafe. We asked for a pot of tea for two and were given a teapot big enough to quench any thirst. We had three cups each and it still wasn't empty. Excellent value for £2.50.... More

Oh the joy of throwing, an unpacked suitcase on top, of the wardrobe, and slowly wending your way to this little gem. It never changes lovely salads, inventive dishes of the day, overhearing lovely local gossip, and catching up on a years worth of news. No-one snatches your half finished drink and wipes with a rag, to stretch your legs... More

After reading the TA reviews of this, went out of our way to find it, and was certainly worth the efffort. We only had Tea and Cake (Dorset Apple Cake) served with Clotted Cream which was truly delicious. The service was exceptional as well, served in a delightful walled garden, very retro. Would highly recommend to everyone, and would certainly... More

Lovely coffee, lovely food, lovely people, lovely interior. If I'd live in Lyme, it would be my daily stop for sure. Try de milkshakes and great sandwiches, and oh the scones!

Finding this cafe as a tourist makes you feel you are in on a local secret. You can have breakfast, a sandwich or baked potato with your choice from a wide range of options, all cooked very nicely. We went three times, largely motivated by the fantastic milkshakes and the charming staff.

Very friendly staff and £3 will get you a large thick tasty milk shake! Also really impressed that although the café closed at 5pm, unknowingly we were sat in the outdoor seating area still enjoying our drinks and there was no sense of urgency to get us out. Definitely recommend a stop off, especially a good stop off point if... More

We happen to come across this tea room tucked behind the Post Office. We arrived shortly before 3pm on a Saturday afternoon feeling hungry ! This fitted the bill perfectly. A good lunch well presented, tasty and good value. Friendly service.
