Amazing little pub

This pub is just fantastically old school, great drink, very local orientated, if you want to feel the real vibe of Lyme Regis just pop in here for a drink. It's quirky, different and incredible authentic. Fantastic place to visit, whether it's just for the one pint or a few more.....well worth a... read more

A lovely sunny day early January and after a long blustery stroll along the beach. We were ready for a drink and some lunch. We came across this pub and am very glad we did. The service was impeccable, the food was amazing. I had the ham sandwich. The bread was thick and there was so much think ham. One... More

We was in Lyme shopping and had to wait for some keys to be cut so we popped in and had a pint, Otter was mine the others had Thatchers Gold. I had only read about the story of the true Lassie and that the Pub was turned into a makeshift Morge, please don't let this turn you off. Great... More

The Volunteer Inn is easily missed as you strut down into Lyme Regis, but that would be a mistake. It's a proper pub and clearly looks after it's locals. It is very homely and more importantly you get a 'very warm welcome' from the 'very attractive' Landlady and her bar staff. We were in for lunch and were very happy... More

The Volunteer Inn was a huge success after a couple of recent poor choices in Lyme. Visited at lunchtime on Boxing Day having booked a table based on TA reviews. We were a group of six with 4 adults and 2 kids. Lovely table in a bay window of the eating side. Small inside but plenty of room at the... More

This is a proper pub, that is probably often overlooked by visitors, which would be a mistake. Despite being full of locals we were made to feel very welcome when we walked in with a soaking wet dog. As for the food it was excellent; the homemade fish fingers were enormous and the crab linguine delicious. Well worth a visit.
