Now called the Lyme Tree

Obviously Lyme is quite quiet in the evenings at this time of year so we were a bit apprehensive as only 3 other people in when we arrived. We need not of worried. The lady who greeted us was friendly, pleasant and really helpful. Once the very good meal was over the Chef (owner)?, came to have a... read more

We loved eating here and have fond memories eating beautiful food on the balcony in the summer. We were excited to go back during the colder months of 2013 and had found it had changed hands or chefs. The food was terrible I couldn't eat mine. The lady behind the bar was really nice. We won't be going back again,... More

We visited Harry Tate's on a Thursday evening, not a soul in the restaurant apart from us. We received a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar and were seated by the window with a lovely view over the beach. The restaurant had a nice feel about it, even the toilets were good. The drinks arrived quickly and my... More

We went there yesterday lunchtime and it was a lovely restaurant. We had garlic mushrooms and pate starters and the chicken and steak mains. They were delicious and well presented. Lovely!! The view is fabulous

We had just arrived in Lyme Regis and needed a light lunch and having been told by several hotels that they only served the usual cooked Sunday lunches we walked along Marine Parade and spotted Harry Tates. We were greeted by pleasant, friendly staff and shown to a table on the terrace with a wonderful view of the beach. We... More

On the positive side there are great views from the outside tables and the service was good on the (not busy) night we had dinner there. The food was disappointing after the reviews we had read. Our calamari starter was a generous portion but mostly batter and what squid there was was overcooked. Our mains were not unpleasant but rather... More

I love food and had heard this was a good restaurant so though I would give it a go the welcome was good and we got to sit outside. The starters were very good and very big portions white bait was so fresh and the flavour was amazing if you just went for the starters they were good. The mains... More

This Tapas restaurant is tucked away on the 1st floor up a stairway and surprisingly few people seemed to find it. This is despite its prime location with a terrace overlooking Monmouth beach. We arrived at 12:0 and the waitress unfurled a giant parasol which was very welcome after a morning on the beach. The food was excellent value and... More

If Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cry me a river’ wasn’t enough to invite me upstairs to Harry Tates Wine Bar and Restaurant, than the Spanish influenced menu board definitely triggered something in me. The staff were lovely and friendly, and service was quick and welcoming. We had the choice of sitting outside on el balcon, watching Lyme Regis go by with beautiful... More
