Go for the fantastic food (not necessarily the service)

In a charming spot in Lyme Regis, this small place serves really excellent, fresh-tasting food. We both started with scallop Carpaccio beautifully presented with pea puree, asparagus and other vegetable delights in a fragrant dressing. Then I had the catch of the day: generous brill fillets on... read more

Visited in may with friends, its a quiet cosy little restaurant, friendly staff and average food. Nothing special here, but good food that was tasty and worth the price paid!

I had the Cornish plaice on the bone which was gorgeous, succulent, sweet and cooked just right. The rest of our party enjoyed their food. Pity the service didn't come with a smile.

Our son-in-law was advised to eat here by a work colleague and we were not disappointed. They impressed us even before the meal, as we had to ring and advise them that we were stuck in traffic in Bridport after an accident (11 miles in 2.5 hours!!!) and they were happy to delay our booking time by 45 minutes. The... More

It was busy when we called to see if they could fit us in for lunch at the Millside Restaurant, They had no tables left in the main area but offered us a table in a side room. We were soon joined by two more couples. The staff, despite being under pressure were very attentive and friendly. They told us... More

Millside took it all in their stride...Booked with open table reservation for 6...ended up after a long enjoyable but weary day with 15 for 20.00 hours !!! We were advised to book our menu selection in advance, but, like all silly holiday makers forgot to do it. Only one member of our party was dissapointed (fish pie). . Meal and... More

Called in without booking at 2pm on Sunday with 30 minutes to go before the advertised closing time and wondered if the meat and vegetables might have been kept warm for a while.... Not at all. An excellent roast beef with interesting fresh al-dente vegetables was served, helped down by a Palmer Best bitter shandy. Service was warm and friendly... More

I had a steak here the same week as having one in The Bull Hotel in Bridport and it was far superior here. Lovely food served in a nice atmosphere by friendly staff and owners. It is definitely worth finding and is my favourite place to eat in Lyme.

What arrived tasted good, but what was advertised as smoked duck with watercress at £7 arrived as four or five minimalist slivers of duck, each crowned with a watercress leaf!

We stopped here for some lunch over bank holiday. Both had a sandwich and ordered a side of chips. The chips were more like wedges and lovely! Lovely spot to sit outside and watch the world go by. We were lucky as it was sunny for us and it is a little sun trap which was great. Quite a small... More
