We visited after a recommendation from a colleague and we were not disappointed! From the moment we walked in the service and attention was second to none! Our 9 year old was made to feel welcome and comfortable (which often isn't the case in restaurants) with colouring to keep her occupied! The view was incredible and the food even better,... More

I was taken here for a birthday meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was great, friendly and knowledgeable - and what the waiter didn't know he went to find out. Our food was delicious. I had lobster to start with little bacon bits and the taste of this was stunning. All four of us were delighted with our fish... More

With an extensive cocktail list, it would be a shame not to try them. We had the elderflower cocktail and pernod with mint and they were refreshing and perfect before starting a meal. Starters were Cobb smoked salmon 'Hix cure' and Girolles with a garlic sauce. Both were amazing, small portions but delicious! The mains were lovely but again small... More

We were fortunate to be able to sit by the window with a view over the Cob - it was lovely to have dinner and watch the changing colours as dusk fell. The restaurant is very popular and in order to get this table, we had to accept a late slot - book in good time. The waiters were very... More

We booked on line in advance for our wedding night meal. We advised that this was our wedding night and requested a special table. We were greeted warmly by the host who was aware of our wedding, as were the staff. We were given complimentary cocktails and served by a well informed friendly waiter. I would like to say our... Attentive informal/friendly/informative service. Had a fantastic table looking out over the cobb (luck or a result of booking early?) Interesting twist on a Pastis, lime and mint added, really Nice. Food great, original Eel starter + mixed fish main course (would have again) but served on a cold plater. Would eat here again. Expensive!!

Small portions, tasteless meals and rotten veg are what you get for your overpriced meal here. Even the cheeseboard is pathetic. Excellent service and atmosphere, but if this is how the other half supposedly live, I'll stick to microwave meals from Wetherspoons thanks.

I wish I had taken the advice of previous reviewers and not bothered eating here. First some positives -the setting is lovely and service was friendly if a little slow. However I ordered what I thought was salmon with a samphire salad and it turned out to be mainly leaves with only a few pieces of salmon and samphire. Frankly... More

We visited Hix on Saturday evening with friends. Most of our food was ok, have had a lot better for a lot less money, but the fish curry was so oily and and lacked flavour. The service was slow but the staff were friendly. The seats were uncomfortable (the plastic chairs not such a good idea on a hot and humid... More

We had an early dinner so the service was excellent as was the view. Prawn cocktail very nice but for the money they charged could have been slightly more generous with the prawns we thought. The curry had a nice flavour but not keen on the fish they used "Webster's fish fingers" mmmm The waiter bigged them up and to... More
