Brilliant location, tantalising menu but too pricey to go again

We had a coffee at Hix before our morning on the beach and we were determined to go back for lunch having glanced at the menu. It was worth the breathless climb back up for the view alone, and the lunch was excellent, I had a garden salad which comprised leaves and a number of flowers, nasturtians... read more

We'd had an offer of babysitters for the day so decided to treat ourselves to lunch at Hix to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The setting is lovely, even in the rain, the view over the bay and sea is great. Our starters were lovely, I had Smoked Salmon and my husband had Cuttlefish Croquettes. Then is all started going wrong.... More

What a treat to have lunch overlooking Lyme bay with the sun shining! My son suggested we visit Hix for lunch & we booked our table, a perfectly positioned table too. I chose a lovely Blonde ale, refreshing & light whilst we perused the menu. We decided on the set lunch menu. Crab soup flavoured beautifully, no seasoning required! Mixed... More

I booked a table for 5 for lunch. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant we knew we were in for an experience, I had been here before, but not my friends. The staff attitude and look was well polished and very professional, with a personal twist. The menu was varied and ticked all the boxes. The food was... More

Booked for breakfast this morning. Great table and views to die for. Sadly that was as good as it got. Cappuccino was luke warm and flavourless. Limited menu, no croissants or toast in site, we dont all have a rich breakfast appetite. Eggs Benedict, a one egg portion, very exlensive at £10.50, normally I've had a muffin split in two... More

We came upon this restaurant by accident and we're lucky to get a table. The view over the Cob is beautiful. The food was lovely and the white wine nicely chilled and very pleasant, I think charging for a jug of tap water is a bit unnecessary and I always dislike a service charge, I thought the service was a... My wife, my dog and I arrived at the restaurant around 13:00 on a beautiful March day. As we had a dog we were politely shown around the side of the half filled dining area to a set of outside tables (we knew this would happen as we'd checked the website before going) and told that someone would be with... Whilst on a short holiday on the Jurassic Coast we took the opportunity of making an advance booking for this restaurant based on other Trip Advisor reviews. The location, warm welcome and fabulous table seating promised much and we were certainly not disappointed, The menus and aperitifs were quickly provided, with our questions knowledgely answered. Our choice of food, largely... More
