I come from this area but live a long way away now. With the opportunity to visit on a Sunday lunchtime, we enjoyed a wonderful meal in the knowledge that the chefs really know their fish and how to prepare a delicious meal. Advise early booking as we were almost sat at the back of the restaurant but thankfully we... More

Wonderful venue if you are fit! Excellent food and excellent staff on the Tuesday evening but on Wednesday one of the waiters was somewhat tipsy and messed up the order. The bill was adjusted unasked very favourably. The food was lovely especially the fish fingers. Will be going back on our next visit to Lyme.

One sunny Saturday afternoon we had booked a table at the restaurant for 1:30pm but as we arrived an hour early we thought we would try and get in early , Staff were welcoming and we were were ushered into a smallish dining area with fantastic views across Lyme bay. The member of staff who showed us to our seats... More

I booked this resturant back in March for a meal on my birthday (18th October). 2 weeks prior to our arrival, I received a call telling me they wanted to change the time of our booking to an hour later. I did not want that and having booked months in advance I felt it unreasonable. I was then told if... More

Not very busy for dinner out of season, and has gone downhill since we last ate here a couple of years ago. Cuttlefish was well cooked, and a straightforward dressed crab was liked, but a dish of mixed squash was a mess - some cooked ok, some not. Service was pretty good from the two guys, and the setting is... More

When friends heard that we'd be staying near Lyme Regis, they said that we "must go to Hix". I wish we hadn't. Nothing actually wrong with the food, but I felt that we were paying for the name. I suppose some people like this sort of thing. Starters: The cider-cured sardines were like smaller, slightly less acidic, rollmops; the smoked... More

As frequent visitors to Lyme Regis we have regularly dined here. Food and drinks are overpriced but the location is outstanding and we decided to book in advance and take our French friends for an afternoon tea. We rang and booked the table at the front with the best view. On arrival at 4.00 p.m. we were allocated a table... More

Lovely menu, beautifully-cooked fish and good choice of drinks. My side order of seasonal vegetables comprised three kinds of cabbage. Very healthy but tough and chewy.

Just back from an early birthday gift - dinner at Hix with a dear friend. My third visit in as many years, and lived up to my earlier impressive memories. Attentive but not intrusive service and friendly - icing on the cake. Remembering the satisfying portions before we went straight to the main and both had the fish fingers -... More
