A great find for a one night stopover whilst visiting friends. The couple who run the business were extremely welcoming and have put a lot a thought and effort into something they are clearly passionate about. Our room was spacious and bright with a lovely bathroom and fantastic shower! Dinner was excellent with lots of dishes using local and seasonal... More

I ordered the Duck and found it to be the nicest meal I have ever eaten. Trip Advisor wants 100 characters for the narrative, I only need 9, excellent.

A random find by my partner during our stay at glorious Dartmouth, and finding Blackawton is not very difficult, although the road is single lane, so be prepared to reverse to a passing position. I made a reservation by phone, and due to their dedication to keeping the service on time was asked if I could make it earlier or... More

Picked after reviews from other TA members. The new owners (18 months) made us very welcome and even ran our starters out to the garden as it was a lovely warm evening. The duck was cooked to perfection and my steak the same. A young vibrant couple who want you to enjoy his quaint village pub/ restaurant. The chef/ owner... More

This was recommended by The staff at the Laughing Monk and we were not to be disappointed. It is a lovely pub and staff could not do enough for you. Very much enjoyed the homemade bread which was delivered as we sat down. My starter of asparagus, poached eggs and pea shoots was the star of the show and if I... More

Me and my wife, we spent 2 nights in the hotel, the rooms were nice and cosy with a very comfortable bed. The food was excellent and the attention we received was friendly and warm. We had a very relaxing weekend and we definitely recommend the Normandy Arms if you're looking for a place to escape from the noise of... More

Although we've visited the area many times we'd not tried this restaurant previously, but had heard of it through Trip Advisor. We were there over a Bank Holiday weekend but the place was not overly full. We had a lovely meal, well presented and well executed. My steak and chips was stunning, and cooked exactly to my liking, with the... More

This is a great find, in a tiny village. Only a few tables in a pub but not typical pub food. £30 for three courses, with an excellent children's menu. Everything we had was good, apart from perhaps the chips which were a bit pallid and floury. Excellent quality ingredients including rib-eye steak, mackerel, brill. Home made pork pie, seasonal... A 4-star inn with a 5-star service: I eat here on almost every visit I make to our holiday cottage in the village and each time it is a memorable experience. Reka, Sue etc 'front of house' make you welcome and comfortable. Andrew is a dedicated chef who almost single handled produces the most amazing food, largely sourced from fresh... More
