Superb Food.

Warm welcome and a comfortable atmosphere, The food and wine were delicious and the cooking puts many so called "restaurants" to shame. What a pity that we live so far away - I could eat here often. The four of us had different plates and each agreed their choices were excellent.

Visited the Normandy Arms on our wedding anniversary. The whole atmosphere and ambiance was cosy warm and intimate. We arrived slightly early and were invited to sit next next to the fire for a few drinks. No pressure was put on us to move to our table and we went when we were ready. The service was excellent and the... More

This is a small place, but the food is really very good indeed. I had rabbit with truffle mash and chanterelles, it was wonderful, very fragrant. There was a lovely warm fire going with some old leather sofas around. The wine list features some exotics, but the meals deserve better in my opinion.

This is the best restaurant in South Hams Devon. We have eaten there a number of times in the last few years and have always had excellent food. On this occasion we had as starters the trio of salmon and fried chicken livers and the venison and pork belly which were all excellent. We shared a lemon posset and cream... More

Really pretty place, wish we could have stayed, lovely welcome, log fire in reception. Trio of salmon, home smoked with freshly made tartar sauce, home made bread, lovely. Followed by belly pork perfect, also chicken livers with deep fried egg wonderful. Worth a visit!

I promised my wife a meal out on Saturday, but with 2 day's notice I couldn't get a table at the 1st 3 places I tried. Following a google search for 'best devon restaurants', finding a very complementary national newspaper review about this place and cross referencing to TA I made a booking for here. What a wise deceision that... More

Had a great meal here for my 60th Birthday On a very cold February evening the warmth from not only the Log burner but the co -owner/waitress was exceptional . Superb food at reasonable prices . Eclectic mix of ingredients (ever had a deep fried egg ?). Chef piped happy birthday on the glass plates that the dessert was served... More

Had dinner here with family while staying in Dartmouth. We were made very welcome, with attentive and friendly service. Drinks before dinner round a blazing log stove. We all loved our food - local country ingredients: venison, pheasant, pork etc. beautifully cooked in various ways and artistic presentation. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we went back the next night... More

Had a thoroughly brilliant time here, one of the best meals I've had. You'll have to book as the place was full. We had Potted Devon crab and the duck liver parfait to start. Good sized portions, all totally delicious. We all opted for the Pork belly and truffled pork cheek for main. I can honestly say this was the... More

Decided upon this place based on Tripadvsior. Was not disappointed. Quite a “clinical” bar area perhaps slightly not what I had expected but it fit with the precise, well presented, and stunningly flavoured food. No scrimping on portions either - I have avery good appetite and was debating whether to go for the pudding or not after the first 2... More
