Had the oyster then the Haddock, Chips and Mushy Peas. It was lovely fish, the chips and peas though were average. There's a lot of hype for this place, as such we were a little disappointed.

As we were visiting Padstow we felt the need to try the fish and chips from Mr Stein. We were there at lunch time so it was quite busy. Our order was taken promptly and we had to wait for our number to be called for the food. After about ten minutes it arrived and I was ready to tuck... More

A trip to Stein's F&C has been an annual treat for my family for years. However, today it wasn't up to its usual standard. Really, really greasy (bite into your haddock and it sprayed everywhere). Yuk! So sad - about time Rick came back to salvage his reputation!

Well, to us it lived up to the hype. The haddock was probably the best I have had, the chips were good (a bit wet perhaps). The service ( we had take out) was fast and welcome. So 4 adults, 3 kids portions came to £56, so perhaps not the cheapest but bloody good. Worth a visit. If it's nice,... More

A visit to this place was definitely on the cards for us. We queued for about half an hour outside and when it was our turn to go in we were greeted by such friendly staff. We both ordered cod bites and chips and they were on the table in 5 mins. We knew the price was high but we... More

I've tasted many fish and chip dishes in my life and this comes very close to the bottom of the pile. Time to stop living on the name Rick

We knew all about the high prices and hype of this place before we went there. Yes, we did queue for 10 mins and the place was overcrowded. However the cod pieces we had were stunning but the chips were only ok. The price was quite steep. glad we did it though.

Sometimes it pays to return to the same old place as we have done to Rick Stein's chippy every summer for the last 12 years. It never disappoints. Queue for half an hour outside to get the tummy rumbling and then fall in through the door to secure your place on one of the long wooden benches. The menu of... More

Might be a bit pricier than most, but well worth the money. I don't know what they do to their chips but they were the best I have had for as long as I can remember!! The plaice was to die for...
