Stein's Fish & Chips boasts both a restaurant and takeaway, located in Padstow on the beautiful North Cornwall coast overlooking the Camel Estuary. You'll find a menu of cod and haddock together with a large range of local fish like hake, monkfish, John Dory and bass which is often landed right here on our doorstep in Padstow. Our fish is coated in our homemade batter and deep fried in beef dripping to make it really crisp and we serve our own mushy peas and curry sauce as well as our homemade mayonnaise-based tartare sauce.

Expected Better Quality

We arrived just before 15:00 and were met by a rude member of staff who pushed the small queue of people inside the takeaway and bolted the door !!!! Ordered haddock and chips (£9) and after a short wait received a rather small takeaway box. As you would expect, the fish was fresh white and very... read more

The traditional end to an afternoon cycling the Camel Trail for our family is a visit to Stein's fish and chips. Yes, you have to queue. Yes, there are cheaper places. And yes, the Stein brand is everywhere in Padstow. But the selection of fresh locally caught fish, and chips cooked in dripping is always worth the wait and the... More

Had the takeaway cod and chips. Queue was about 5 mins long. The fish is worth the expense but the chips weren't that great. Portion sizes were fine but for £10 I'd say I've had just as good elsewhere. But when in Padstow you've got to try atleast once!

We had a takeaway Haddock and Chips from this restaurant, whilst the fish and chips were nice I am sure some of the other fish and chip restaurants within Padstow would be equally as nice. I do think it was overpriced for the size of the fish and the amount of chips.

Ok. So the fish was good quality, though not really value for money and I enjoyed the food. But, it wasn't anything spectacular and there is nowhere to sit outside, which meant that we had to sit on the quay on the floor if we wanted to be in the sun. It's a shame that Rick Stein has seemingly monopolised... More

We were expecting more from the fish and chips restaurant on the harbour front! The fish portions were quite small and eating in was basic, as this was from a container box. We ordered three starters but only two came , they forgot one sauce. We also tried the takeaway which was the same- acceptable

Great fish and not bad chips! Definitely worth waiting for. Sorry, Dovehouse parade does better chips. Very friendly and well organised with the queues..

Good parking, the choice to either take away or eat in their dining area. Cant say its a restaurant, cause it is not. Though it has waiter service, you are given your food in paper trays. The quality of the fish and chips is good, served with lemon and parsley. Its between 9.95 to 11.95 for cod, haddock, and hake.... More
