Stein's Fish & Chips boasts both a restaurant and takeaway, located in Padstow on the beautiful North Cornwall coast overlooking the Camel Estuary. You'll find a menu of cod and haddock together with a large range of local fish like hake, monkfish, John Dory and bass which is often landed right here on our doorstep in Padstow. Our fish is coated in our homemade batter and deep fried in beef dripping to make it really crisp and we serve our own mushy peas and curry sauce as well as our homemade mayonnaise-based tartare sauce.

Top draw Fish & Chips

Visited this week with friends & family. Very busy but we'll worth the wait. Would be great if there were benches outside all along the front by the waterside on the edge of the carpark so you could sit and enjoy them outside. Can't fault the food we had, fish and chips and a couple of scallops. Only downside is the queue and having to pay 35p for a sachet of ketchup!

Have just eaten fish and chips from Steins ……we have had the fish and chips many times over the years but can't help noticing that although they are lovely the portion sizes are definitely shrinking, we felt the portion of cod was much smaller than you would get in other fish and chip shops……taking the micky a bit we feel.

The restaurant queue was too long so we got take away but that did not reduce the quality of the food. And we ate much quicker as a result

Having a few hours to spare and needing nosh, I had drawn a blank in nearby Wadebridge and made for Padstow. It was around seven in the evening on a Sunday in mid April, not really out of season, but could I find a chipper open? There was the posh seafood restaurant, a couple of generic eateries but nothing else.... More

Took my oldest friend visiting from the States for the Padstein experience.....as a pescatarian he loved the cod and chips and we agreed it was the best fish 'n chip takeout we have had. It has something of a conveyor feel but the operation has to be slick to cater so well for the footfall. Worth the looooooong drive. Lovely.

We visit here every time we are in Cornwall and drive 30 mins for it! The fish is so fresh, the batter is crispy and not greasy and the chips are just right. They offer a choice of being fried in beef dripping or a vegetarian batter, which is kept separate. The homemade tartare sauce is gorgeous!! There is always... More

Great fish and chips but be prepared to wait. You first have to order (which doesn't take long) and then you're given a number and sent to another queue to wait for your food (which took ages!!) We were lucky that it was a sunny day and there were just two of us waiting - I don't think we would... More
