So, it's Friday night in winter, and we haven't pre-booked for dinner. We are from Australia, and to be honest Padstow isn't that busy. walked around town and saw the Cafe and thought it looked nice and casual. sign on the door said opens at 6, we were 15 mins early, although several staff were sitting inside chatting with their... Having visited the cafe before we were keen to try Thursday curry night and we weren't disappointed. The food was beautifully cooked and presented, could find no fault with it. The only downside was the waiter who had no knowledge of the menu and had to ask the chefs any questions we had, there is only 3 main dishes so... More

An atmospheric place to eat, service was good but we were squashed together like sardines with strangers. OK if you are outgoing and not deaf. The food was well cooked and tasty, however I have tasted much better fish and chips and eaten larger portions for less money.

....a Rick Stein eatery whilst in Padstow. Chose this one and was not disappointed. Food was excellent, staff not attentive enough and a nice atmosphere. Overall just couldn't fault it in any way...would definitely eat there again.

Closed this week, but a restaurant cannot rely on its absent owners name. Rick needs to be more "hands on"

Thank you for the review. During the winter we undertake essential maintenance on all our restaurants and as such have to close for a week – we always stagger this though so you’ll always be able to eat in one of our restaurants. More

Poppped in here on the off-chance for a bite of lunch on my birthday. We were in luck as they had one remaining table for two. Both of us ordered the special deal of the day - Moules frites with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for £9.95. Perfect thin, hot and cripsy chips: good sauce with the mussels. Place was... More

I love this place. It is stylishly informal and totally relaxing. The wonderful staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and warming. The menu is a lovely mix of seafood and spice and many dishes have an Asian or Spanish influence. There's something for everyone on the menu. We let the waiter match the wine for us, and that proved to be... More

Here it is important to realise that I have been to all Rick Stein's restaurants in Padstow. This is the one that impressed me the least. I struggled to find something I wanted to eat. It just doesn't have the same level. Ok, it's just a cafe, but the fish & chips is remarkable. There is nothing wrong with this... More
