Thrilled to find Belted Galloway Steaks on the menu. We all chose them. Pre notified the team about some special requirements beforehand ... exceeded our expectations on delivering them. Drinks delicious - I always pick my spirit and let the bar weave their magic! Team delightful as always. A lovely interlude between Christmas and New Year.

I eat out a lot, it is my passion and my downfall!! But I do love eating food that has been prepared by someone with a passion for the ingredients and their provenance, for the cooking, and for the presentation. You can tell when someone cooks with love. No 6 therefore must have an x-rated kitchen!! Everything about this restaurant... More

Overview This meal was part of a gastronomic week in the Padstow/Rock area of North Cornwall when, with friends, my wife and I tried three local restaurants for lunch; Paul Ainsworth's No.6 and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, Nathan Outlaw's at St Enodoc's in Rock. Overall all three provided an excellent lunchtime experience, great food and value for money.... More

From entering to leaving the whole experience was excellent. Staff were helpful and patient, they explained any dishes and were knowledgeable. The atmosphere was cosy and not stuffy, so was very relaxed, which makes a change from some other upmarket restaurants where there are dress codes etc. The sommelier recommended an excellent wine and I would suggest you discuss your... From the moment I picked up the phone to book until the moment we left the restaurant, the service coudn't be beaten. Food-wise it was very good though one of us was just ever-so slightly disappointed. Starters were excellent, as was my fallow deer with a taste-explosion of accompaniments. My wife's monkfish though was rather overpowered by the oriental-style sauce... More

What a lovely chilled out lunchtime experience. We went for the set menu which was reasonably priced and great value. This is fantastic top end food at affordable prices, will definitely be visiting it again, Paul even let me check out the kitchen. Staff were great and very helpful.

We ate at No 6 twice during this visit to Padstow and New Years Eve was a brilliant family evening there. On both visits the food, wine and service was excellent.

I must admit when we arrived and I was handed the separate 'Vegetarian Menu' which offered soup followed by seasonal veg, my heart sank - not another 'special needs menu' designed for nuisances who don't like food. But, I was so, so wrong. Celariac soup served with a croque madame, quail's egg and truffle shavings beautifully presented on a rustic... More

I have just had the absolute pleasure of dining here for a leisurely lunch and now have a true dining benchmark! Everything here is faultless - the care and detail in decorating the venue, the atmosphere, the genuinely engaging and knowledgeable staff who deliver the right balance of warmth and expert service. The food is sublime. I'd recommend starting with... More

It's all been said before... Service, food and setting all impeccable. Easily the best meal I've had for a long time! My other half proposed that very afternoon and when I told the host who greeted us we were treated like real VIP's, from a complementary glass of Ruinart Champagne to a card written by the chef, pre desserts and...
