A Fairground Tale !

My husband and I visited this restaurant for lunch recently. We had the two-course set lunch at £19 each; pudding would have been another £7 and sounded lovely, but we decided to share Paul Ainsworth's special Fairground pudding (as seen on tv) instead which was great fun and definitely worth... read more

We had the two-course set lunch at £19 each; pudding would have been another £7 and sounded lovely, but we decided to share Paul Ainsworth's special Fairground pudding (as seen on tv) instead which was great fun and definitely worth treating yourself to. After booking in January we had been looking forward to eating here to celebrate our birthdays and it did not disappoint! From the welcome at the door to the layout of the upsatirs dining room we knew we were in for a treat! The staff were very knowledgeable about the food and did a great job of describing each dish... Had a really great meal and experience last night as we have had over many years, other than the rude customer who was dealt with very well by the young team - well done. Food was up to its normal high standard, from the bread to the chicken with truffle, duck parfait and Fairground. Look forward to returning soon

We visited the restaurant as a party of four for my mother's birthday. It was a truly outstanding and memorable culinary experience, even the bread and butter were sublime! The bill was slightly eye watering but the food was suitably mouth watering. I look forward to visiting again soon.

We spent a weekend in Padstow and this was by far and away our best experience (Rick Stein's was almost a disappointment the following evening!). Our Waitress 'Sarah' was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and talked us through the dishes with genuine enthusiasm. Hogget was had along with the chicken and everything was mouth-wateringly delicious. We of course had to... More

What can I say about this apart from the moment you walk through the door you are made to feel very welcome with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The menu always pushing the taste boundaries and never what you expect, something that sounds so simple can arrive in front of you and the look and taste absolutely blows you away.... More

We ate at Rick Steins the night before (see my review) which was very, good apart from front of house, but this is in a different league altogether. My wife got it right in the order of restaurants for my birthday with this being the main event. The building used to be a house so we ate in what was... More

We have just enjoyed an excellent meal and evening at No.6. The service by young enthusiastic staff, very pleasant and knowledgeable about the food and drink being served without being condescending or pretentious. Tables far enough apart to give privacy but close enough to maintain atmosphere. Scallop ceviche on a bed of kimchi style cabbage for starter and exquisite Hogget... More
