Some very strange reviews on St Petrocs. We had a fabulous experience, sat out in the garden with our Whippet. Very friendly staff, great service, lovely back garden and extremely dog friendly. Food was spot on, I don't get people's objection to Stein using his name everywhere. It certainly gives a real stamp on the level of quality you can... More

We booked for Sunday lunch and were warmly welcomed on arrival. The dining room was bright and the tables well-spaced; the young staff were smiling and helpful (windows open at the front and doors open at the back created a chilly draft; the windows were closed upon request); the food was delicious and well presented. We were not rushed. We... More

A highlight of a family holiday in Cornwall was a trip to St Petrocs. The whole family was involved in choosing the restaurant, the menu selection being the main issue to ensure there was something for everyone. The restaurant was busy on the night we visited and while the tables were close together it didn't feel crowded. Service was at... More

Had a lovely family lunch to mark the end of our family holiday and our wedding anniversary. It was delicious and the service was great. Can't fault it - really enjoyed it and the relaxing ambience offered no pretension which is what I look for in a good restaurant. Only suggestion would be perhaps to offer complimentary bread or olives... More

my wife and I visited for lunch and chose the set lunch menu, starter for my wife was the plaice goujons and I had the pea sorrel and lettuce soup which were excellent followed by chicken and I had the hake and have to say that they were delicious but had to order extra sides to complement the quantity of... We just managed to get a booking here but ate in the bar, which was small, intimate and cute. Had a drink in the lounge first which made a good start to the night. In the bar we had a very friendly and knowledgeable sommelier/drinks waiter. Food - prawn cocktail starter that was rather watery and bland served with a... More

Recently had dinner here, the food was really good, and service was nice and friendly. Not to over priced, and nice to have the Rick Stein stamp on it.

We had booked a midday Sunday meal here more than a month before our holiday. The staff were friendly on arrival and showed us to our (very cramped) table. We chose the three course lunch option, partly because it offered the pithivier for dessert. The pea and sorrel soup was delicious but the pate was underdeveloped in flavour and over-herby.... More

The bistro is fantastic it has a great atmosphere and is casual place to enjoy delightful food. The bistro is up a slight hill, tucked away from the shops, sun umbrellas outside with cafe tables where you can sit with a drink before dining. The staff are happy and friendly and do not rush you, there are plenty of choices... More
