When a place has the Rick Stein brand the best is expected. St Petroc's was not bad: nothing to complain about, and it was busy. Scallops to start with were OK, the ribeye steak very tender but not especially tasty. Lemon sole on the bone was fine. Rhubarb crumble to finish, and Greek muscat to accompany were unremarkable. It was... More

Booked last minute- Saturday for Sunday. Managed to get in at 9pm. Was pleased as this was my favourite meal (experience at ainsworth was better but preferred the steak at St petroc. Staff were lovely really chatty and friendly. Good meat restaurant when you have had enough of seafood in padstow :)

As we only came down for a long weekend, had a look around for somewhere to eat, there was 6 of us and 2 dogs. Popped in here, asked at the reception if they could fit us in. She told me that would be fine, but not in the restaurant, due to the dogs, which I understood. They put us... More

originally booked for seafood restaurant but as we intended to have several other seafood meals in the week, we changed the booking to st petrocs, and very glad we did, The chateaubriand was amazing, best we have ever had, even took the time to cook each portion different as i prefer mine much rarer than my husband, full marks all... 1st night of our 2 night package. The scallop starter & chateaubriand was to die for. Very attentive service, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & the surroundings. Really looking forward to the Seafood restaurant now tomorrow!!

We had to eat here as a part of our two night package at Padstow. Very ordinary compared to the Seafood Restaurant. Such a disappointment as we expected better. It's down to the staff and chef everywhere and St Petrocs is typical hotel food. Ok but dull.

We are sorry that we did not live up to your expectations on your recent visit to St Petroc’s and that you found the food disappointing compared to The Seafood Restaurant. The styles of the two restaurants are quite different but we apologise if you found it ordinary. More

Not easy to rate. Food was excellent, it's better value than seafood and I'd come back. If this was the only bistro in a small market down you'd be seriously impressed. But it's one of a crowd in padstow with a famous name above the door so perhaps we expected more.

This place really isn't a bistro - but the restaurant serves very good food at reasonable prices. Service very friendly and great atmosphere. We enjoyed our meal here as much as at the Seafood restaurant - but at half the price (about £100 for two with wine)

Husband and I came here in feb, we could not fault the food apart from the thin cut chips! Basically Mac Ds fries we expected thin cut Chips with skins for example. We had the steak, which was cooked amazing. However the lighting, atmosphere just wasn't great but dead, boring. Staff seemed up tight the whole time instead of friendly.... More

It’s great to know the food was so good at the Bistro and we will pass on your comments about the steak to our Head Chef but we are sorry that you were disappointed with the chips. The bistro gets many positive comments about its relaxed and lively atmosphere so I am sorry this was not evident the night you... More
