It has the Rick Stein stamp all over it - the contemporary fresh feel, the café atmosphere and the anticipation of something special. The scallops for starter (three in their shells) were amazing. We both ordered different types of steak, cooked medium and medium rare but there was no sign of pink in either of them. That said, my husband... More

Called in for drinks and to have a look around. Very friendly staff, menu looked good and it could be a nice place to stay, but, there is no parking for cars which could be a problem.

Visited St Petroc's Bistro on 16th July and was very disappointed by the food, the service and the overall experience! The service was slow and although the waitress was very pleasant, there did not seem to be any system for taking order, clearing tables etc. We even had to ask to see the sweet menu! As a vegetarian my main... More

After reading previous reviews I was a bit worried that I was going to be disappointed with the food and the service. However I couldn't fault either. The food and the service were both excellent. The only reason I knocked a point off is because I feel a main course should be exactly that and include your vegetables. You shouldn't... More

Visited 10 July, it was a special day, however table in a small corner, not big enough for dishes, ordered steak, rare/medium, came overlooked, waitress never returned to check meals, service very poor, we did point out the poor quality of the meals, waitress said she would let them know in the kitchen, we never saw her again. Not a... More

Enjoyed the set menu for £18, well worth the money. Nice surroundings, acceptable service, food was very good.

We booked a special family meal for our holiday. They forgot to cook the children's meals, but told us they would be with us in moments and left us sitting almost 25 minutes with 3 meals served waiting for the other 2. The children's meal came with lemon cordial which when unavailable was replaced with drinks charged extra. The food... More

We booked accommodation and were recommended St Petroc's by the Rick Stein people. We paid £270 per night for bed and breakfast. The room a short walk from the bistro, up a side street through an anonymous locked door. Much in need of refurbishment, we climbed stairs past waving, dead looking grasses, and a hand rail whose varnish had worn... More

My partner and I booked in for dinner at relatively short notice and were really looking forward to our evening, which made it so much more disappointing when the service, menu and quality of food turned out to be poor and everything was so overpriced. The menu was limited, with every element of your main course charged at an additional... More

We booked Sunday lunch for our family of 5 a few weeks before our holiday in Cornwall, and were very much looking forward to it. Arriving 15 mins early, we were shown directly to our table by a couple of very friendly and attentive staff members. The restaurant was busy but not full, and the ambience and atmosphere very pleasant,... More
