Description: The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old...
The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old 'Coastguard Houses' at Hawkers Cove, on the Coastal Path, 150m from the slipway at Hawkers Cove beach and enjoys fantastic views across the Doom Bar and mouth of the Camel Estuary, to Polzeath and Daymer Bay. We serve hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, quiches and pies, homemade soups, filled jacket potatoes, made to order sandwiches, cream teas, ice creams and various snacks.(Our cream teas and our crab sandwiches are getting rave reviews). We have also started baking our own Gluten Free scones, so can now offer possibly the best gluten free cream tea in Cornwall. The tea garden is, literally, a garden, with no inside seating and is consequently very 'weather dependent' so if the weather is at all 'unsettled', we would advise that you phone ahead to make sure that we are open. The tea garden will be open 7 days a week (weather permitting) from Easter to October. This year we will be closed from 1st October to 17th October, due to family committments, opening again on Saturday 18th October through to Saturday 1st November, weather permitting. Unfortunately we don't have any parking facilities, so suggest that you park in the car park and walk along the coast path, or park on the road to Hawkers Cove and walk down the hill, (approx 500m). We accept most Credit/Debit Cards. Please come and see us.... You will be made most welcome!

Rest, Eat and Drink A While!

Had heard of this tea garden and just chanced upon signs to it on our way back along the south west coast path from Trevone Bay - and it's well worth a visit (or two!). Mrs J declared her chocolate cake to be one of the best ever, and my bread pud ran it a close second! Along with a... read more

This is such a lovely spot to stop and recharge your batteries. We've been a couple of times when walking from Padstow up to Stepper Point. We've been for 3 years on the trot - its part of the holiday routine now! The young lad there was really friendly and told us about all the baking that goes off there.... More

Finding myself with a free day while visiting Padstow recently I decided to walk along the coastal path. It's a beautiful walk with some incredible views but my lack of planning meant I hadn't even thought to take a bottle of water with me. When I came across this tea room I was thrilled! I stopped for a cup of... More

All the reviews are outstanding so we decided to walk from Padstow along the coastal path, it's about a four mile round trip. When we arrived it was closed even though the signs at the entrance said it was open, it also says sometimes we open late, sometimes we close early or words to that effect. So I suggest trying... We have stopped twice at this delightful tea garden on our walks from Trevone to Padstow. It could not be better! Wonderful coffee and enormous scones and clotted cream together with a warm welcome for both us and our dog. A wonderful place with a fantastic view.

This place is a fair walk out of Padstow en route to Trevone but it was definitely worth every step. We were quite late getting there but the service was friendly, the view was fantastic and the cream tea certainly revived us for the rest of the walk. With two scones and plenty of jam and cream, the cream teas... More

Our second visit - the first was 2 years ago. We love it here. Well made coffee - tasty sandwiches and even gluten free scones so both of us could enjoy this classic. Generous portions. Amazing views. A highlight of our holiday. We'll be back again soon.

My family and I enjoyed ice cream, scones and drinks at the Rest A While on a few walks from Padstow to Stepper Point. This unique back garden cafe is a friendly and tasty place to stop and the welcome is always warm irrespective of the Cornish weather. We noticed other walkers enjoying huge crab sandwiches and would highly recommend... More
