Description: The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old...
The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old 'Coastguard Houses' at Hawkers Cove, on the Coastal Path, 150m from the slipway at Hawkers Cove beach and enjoys fantastic views across the Doom Bar and mouth of the Camel Estuary, to Polzeath and Daymer Bay. We serve hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, quiches and pies, homemade soups, filled jacket potatoes, made to order sandwiches, cream teas, ice creams and various snacks.(Our cream teas and our crab sandwiches are getting rave reviews). We have also started baking our own Gluten Free scones (and some cakes), so can now offer possibly the best gluten free cream tea in Cornwall. We are 'Dog Friendly', welcoming well behaved pooches with a fresh bowl of water and biscuits. The tea garden is, literally, a garden, with no inside seating and is consequently very 'weather dependent' so if the weather is at all 'unsettled', we would advise that you phone ahead to make sure that we are open. The tea garden will be open 7 days a week (weather permitting) from Easter to October. Unfortunately we don't have any parking facilities, so suggest that you park in the car park and walk along the coast path, or park on the road to Hawkers Cove and walk down the hill, (approx 500m). The tea garden is situated behind the top row of houses. We accept most Credit/Debit Cards. Please come and see us.... You will be made most welcome!

Delicious food and amazing view

We were on a circular dog walk from Padstow to Hawkers Cove and after reading reviews of the Rest A While tea garden we decided we had to stop there. We arrived at about 10.45am to a friendly welcome, the food and drinks were delicious, the flapjack and the scone were still slightly warm as they... read more

We were walking to Trevone so had just begun our walk really and saw the sign for Rest A While tearoom. Opening times were 10.30 - 4.30 so as it was just after 10.30 we thought we would stop for coffee. Although the owners were still getting things ready for opening, they were very welcoming and friendly and invited us... More

Decided to walk along the beach from Padstow to the Rest a while tea garden. We enjoyed a pot of tea and lovely slice of cake. The garden is small but the views are fabulous.

I'd foolishly decided to walk the 7 mile coastal path on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year with only one bottle of water. I thought that this little place was a mirage at first, being part of the first buildings I'd seen in about 5 miles. Considering that they have a bit of a captive... More

Probably the best scones you will ever enjoy with the most amazing views! Lots of choice sandwiches, cakes and of course cream teas. We have visited many times and enjoy the lovely walk from Padstow, whilst considering the reward once we arrive at Rest A While. A must do if you are in the area. Oh, those scones!

Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review! Our Cream Teas are getting rave reviews! We think that we have got the scones just right now after mixing and matching a few different recipes, to create our own using Cornish butter, Cornish eggs and Cornish buttermilk and we have been getting fantastic compliments. We also make Gluten... More

This was the first visit to Rest A While near Padstow but it certainly will not be the last! A friend and I stopped for lunch on a beautiful windy summers day in July. The garden was delightful, colourful and sheltered. The service was excellent, good humoured and thoughtful, fresh water for the dogs was quickly sorted. The sandwiches were... More

We visited this little place on the way back from a long walk along the coast path. It was a very hot day, and just as we were wilting, we came upon the Rest a While tea garden, so we did just that! As the place is so tiny, and there were 7 of us, we had to split ourselves... More
