Description: The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old...
The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old 'Coastguard Houses' at Hawkers Cove, on the Coastal Path, 150m from the slipway at Hawkers Cove beach and enjoys fantastic views across the Doom Bar and mouth of the Camel Estuary, to Polzeath and Daymer Bay. We serve hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, quiches and pies, homemade soups, filled jacket potatoes, made to order sandwiches, cream teas, ice creams and various snacks.(Our cream teas and our crab sandwiches are getting rave reviews). We have also started baking our own Gluten Free scones (and some cakes), so can now offer possibly the best gluten free cream tea in Cornwall. The tea garden is, literally, a garden, with no inside seating and is consequently very 'weather dependent' so if the weather is at all 'unsettled', we would advise that you phone ahead to make sure that we are open. The tea garden will be open 7 days a week (weather permitting) from Easter to October. Unfortunately we don't have any parking facilities, so suggest that you park in the car park and walk along the coast path, or park on the road to Hawkers Cove and walk down the hill, (approx 500m). We normally accept most Credit/Debit Cards, but are currently between machines, so are 'cash only' until further notice. Please come and see us.... You will be made most welcome!

Enterprising tea garden with a view

This lovely little tea garden is well signposted just off the coastal path at Hawkers Cove, it's a real welcome break and well out of the wind. The view over the Camel Estuary is superb, the cream tea is excellent and reasonably priced. Only 2 downsides- you need to walk there as not accessible... read more

We found "Rest a while" by accident on a coastal walk from Padstow. Truly beautiful spot, worth the short detour from the path. Excellent Cornish tea, convivial atmosphere, potted plants, simple benches and the best views in the country. Thank you! We will be back :)

We came across this quaint tea garden whilst on a walk along the South West Coastal Path near Padstow. It is a bit off the path, but well signed. We had a good lunch here. The usual fare, but well cooked and tasty. If you're walking the path or just want a walk from Padstow (2 miles), it's a great... More

Small, quiet, relaxing place. After a nice walk around we found this beautiful garden we knew that was in the area as we saw it in Tripadvisor. Very easy to find with lots of signs. The tea is delicious and the scones are the best. No toilets was a bit of an issue so far from local convenience, so go... More

Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review and glowing recommendation. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your cream tea. Our scones are always well received. (We bake gluten free versions as well). I am surprised you were expecting us to be bigger as we always state everywhere that we are 'tiny'. Regarding toilet facilities..... Whilst officially... After a walk round Stepper point this is a fantastic place to stop. The views are wonderful, the cream tea delicious, with light home-made scones, clotted cream & strawbery jam. The people are very friendly. I had lemon & ginger tea with lemon slices. This little addition is the kind of personal touch which made it special. Sandwiches, jacket potatoes,... More

Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review! I'm glad that you enjoyed our homemade goodies. Our Cream Teas are getting rave reviews! Regarding toilet facilities..... Whilst officially we don't have any toilet facilities, if customers are desperate, they can, for a small donation in the Charity box, walk round to the back of the house and... More

Great little find - cafe garden (NB no inside shelter that we saw) run from the back kitchen of a terraced house just a few steps from the Coast path and we'll sign-posted. Two jacket potatoes (one with chilli, the other with cheese & beans) two bottles of water and a Cornish cream tea - £18 ish. Lovely scones with... More

Thanks for the lovely review! Our Cream Teas have been getting rave reviews! This year we have started using Cornish Jam which contains so much more fruit, than most other varieties. We thought that our cream teas were good..... Now they are even better! (Gluten free available too!) Please tell as many people as possible about us and call again... More

we often walk to Padstow and always stop here for refreshments. The atmostphere is pleasant and the view over the camel estuary is spectacular, on a sunny day that is!
