Description: The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old 'Coastguard Houses' at Hawkers Cove, on the Coastal Path, 150m from the slipway at Hawkers Cove beach and enjoys fantastic views across the Doom Bar and mouth of the Camel Estuary, to Polzeath and Daymer Bay. We serve hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, quiches and pies, homemade soups, filled jacket potatoes, made to order sandwiches, cream teas, ice creams and various snacks.(Our cream teas and our crab sandwiches are getting rave reviews). We have also started baking our own Gluten Free scones and muffins. The tea garden is, literally, a garden, with no inside seating and is consequently very 'weather dependent' so if the weather is at all 'unsettled', we would advise that you phone ahead to make sure that we are open. The tea garden will be open 7 days a week (weather permitting) from Easter to 31st October. Unfortunately we don't have any parking facilities, so suggest that you park in the car park and walk along the coast path, or park on the road to Hawkers Cove and walk down the hill, (approx 500m). We accept most Credit/Debit Cards. Please come and see us.... You will be made most welcome!

Fabulous cream tea . Both jam and scones first class. Good pot of tea too! All in a delightful deck surrounded by flowers. This will be a place we will come back to.

We came upon this tea room whilst spending the day at the beach. Fantastic views with a great, friendly service. The homemade food was lovely, especially the best sticky toffee flapjack ever (of which, we ordered more and more.) Well worth the walk up!!

Coming back from a lovely walk to Stepper Point with 2 hungry children we fell upon the Rest a While tea garden and had delicious sandwiches, a lovely tea cake with lashings of Cornish butter and a pastry perfect vegetable quiche. The owners of this hidden gem should be very proud of their food and service. We will definitely be... More

Recommended to us, on our first visit the day was cool and cloudy but the welcome was warm and friendly. In typical quirky British eccentric style the tea garden is just that ....meals are served through a window into a small garden with large expansive views out to sea, up to the coastguard hut and across to Trebetherick and Polzeath.... The Rest a While is always on our itinerary when in Padstow and it was good to be there on a warm sunny day. The food and service remains excellent and I can honestly say I was served the biggest piece of cake ever - just as well we had a long walk either side of the visit to burn... More

Forget the centre of Padstow with all its crowds. It may be a bit of a hike but certainly well worth it. Good coffee, lovely cakes and certainly better priced than the restaurants in the town centre.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review! 'Simple and perfect' sounds good to me. We always have a bowl of fresh water available for thirsty pooches and as Tregirls Beach and Hawkers Cove allow dogs, we like to think that we are dog friendly. Please tell as many people as possible about us and come back... More

We visited this cafe twice whilst walking from Trevone to Padstow. It is a wonderful place which has a quaint atmosphere and idyllic views over the Camel Estuary. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. The garden was very pretty. It is ideal on a sunny day, as there is no indoor seating, but we would... More
